AnonD-168700, 24 Sep 2013Yeah, your iphone is fast, but NOT because of the 64bit chi... moreApple wouldnt have wasted money on a chip if the equipment doesnts support it... dont be so naive. May be similar to a computer, but technically not one. what if THIS 64bit chip DOESNT need 4GB RAM??

Mandrake, 24 Sep 2013Another thing worth mentioning apart from the iPhone sales ... moreIt - without being sarcastic - takes Android well over a year to achieve that. If even possible.

Another thing worth mentioning apart from the iPhone sales is the record 200 Million devices that upgraded to iOS7 in just 5 days - that is probably the biggest and fastest software rollout/upgrade done in smartphone history.

AnonD-190025, 24 Sep 2013Do you even use apple devices? If no then how about not com... moreI agree with this comment fully.
There are some false arguments that people keep holding up however.
Software & Hardware are never independent, and therefore the best combination is to design the software to one set of hardware.
The challenge for Android & Windows is: it can't do that. Performance inconsistencies are therefore a given. Higher specs in hardware will most often increase performance.
iOS & Apple hardware are a perfect match: lower physical specs, yet better performance due to optimisation.
It is probably true that running Android on an iPhone wouldn't be as good, but that's exactly the point - Apple don't need to worry about that.

Common Sensi, 24 Sep 2013Your sarcasm is humorous, but naive. Perhaps android is bad... moreSorry, but what you just said is EXACTLY Apple's strength. You just admitted to it in your own words.
The fact that they can write amazing software to optimise every little bit out of the hardware THEY design and pick is the key to success.

AnonD-168700, 24 Sep 2013Yeah, your iphone is fast, but NOT because of the 64bit chi... moreWow, you are putting words in my mouth. I never said anything that you claim I did.
All I asked you was to show how iPhone can't compete with ultra-speced Android sets. In case you hadn't realised, most if not all games are released for iOS before Android, which obviously means they are working just fine on iPhone and don't necessarily need 3GB of RAM.
Debate properly if you can.

AnonD-59657, 24 Sep 2013very well say. All of us have been fooled by Apple!Do you even use apple devices? If no then how about not commenting. If yes, who has asked you to use it? Noone is fooling anyone here. A7 is technically the best chip available in the market right now. The fact that it can push this much power on a 1.3 ghz dual core is commendable and great engineering.

So to all the guys that don't seem to understand anything about whathappens here, long story short:
- ARM made the basic design for next gen Armv8(this is more important) 64-bit chips and made it public to all companies in the market. Most decided they will deliver them next year to be able to experiment more and make them as good as they can and used resources on current gen armv7 chips. Apple decided they should play the first game and worked only on this chip to deliver it ahead of the others. It's a bad thing, read on to find why.
-Samsung makes it, this means samsung HAS the capability to create those armv8 64-bit chips right noe, so if they wanted to have one already, they would. They are simply smarter than Apple.
- It's not dual 1.3Ghz because OMG Apple it's magic they made a dual 1.3 as fast as quad +2ghz and if it were at 2 it would crush anyone else. Except it's not. not because Apple had mercy on the others. Because they rushed soo much, their chip consumes as much power as sd800 or samsung's octa, maybe even more!!! Think about it. A dual core 1.3 ghz consumes as much power as a quad 2.3..Yeaaaah...this is one of the most epic power/freq fails ever seen
-A7 is just as fast as sd800 right? Then it' a HUGE fail. it's using a new gen armv8 chip which should be miles faster then current gen chips. that's what always happens in the transition between gens we see huge improvements. The fact that is just as fast means Apple didn't do a very good job. At all. Next year when the others will come with some real chips with the same performance/freq and at least dual 2ghz or quad 1.5 that will consume exactly as much power as the A7 the 5s will effectively be smashed in performance AND power consumption
Truth is Apple was so desperate to make something new they rushed this 64-bit part when they really shouldn't have. It's like last year when they pushed a dual core 1.2ghz A-15 class chip and the competition 6 months later had quad
1.7 chips of the same class. This time it's even worse tough we may see the 5s being 2-3 times slower then the others in 6 months...too bad.
P.S. Cut off the apple fanboysm and think outside the Apple brainwash zone. Android doesn't really lag. My nexus 4 doesn't lag and helped me write this without any problem, it's faster than the 5c tough it's a year older and costs half as much. it has a higher quallity casing than that plastic also. So for the price of a single 5c you could get a better(my opinion) nexus 4 for you and one for your gf, mother, whatever. Maybe apple sells you overpriced things? I used logic to write all this, use some when you buy next phone too. Thx for reading i'm really bored here.
