what a phony committee, if only carrier exclusive headsets are considered. That whole carrier exclusive stuff smells of racket to boot! Good thing there's still a few countries that consider methods like Apple's illegal.

I cant help but noticed whenever LG makes some headlines people tend to talk about something else rather than LG. I'm never a LG fan but It's funny.

I am an American who now lives in London. I have a Nokia N95 which i love to death. when i was living in the states i used verizon and i have to say the voice service was really good. perhaps the biggest problem with verizon is their constant crippling of their phones. bluetooth is restricted to headsets and namecard xfers only, no JAVA support (BREW only, so u have to pay for the small amt of applications they allow), and a boring UI. The Dare is considered a feature packed phone (for Verizon anyway), in Europe it would be slightly over the midrange. If only the dare had overseas GSM support, JAVA, and support for VCAST mobile TV it would have my vote. You have to admit its not a bad looking phone.

Even if there were Sony or Nokia handsets with carriers... they probably wouldn't win... SE's new lineup is still just as crappy, and a waste of $. Nokia, they are alright, decent phones though!

Are we even in the same ballpark with HTC Touch HD? THIS is the yardstick right now, not IPhone, Omnia or whatchamacallit. This goes to prove something about US phone markets and their networks , they're sooo late to the party.

this phone so does not deserve this award. there wasn't a single phone released by a U.S. carrier that deserved to win.

and yes I know LG's the Company that won, but in the U.S., most folks don't realize that their devices are made by separate manufacturers. So this award benefits Verizon much more than LG.

ok there goes the integrity of the CES. the award essentially went to the highest bidder, Verizon. And seeing as all the devices considered were U.S. carrier models, I think this means cell phone carriers (who have been trying to eradicate the unlocked phone industry in the U.S.)are getting desperate. look for the CES award to be marketed heavily as a selling point for the Dare. blah. at least we all know better.
