To be clear, here is a part for the text: "The footage is from one of the 11 Nokia test centers documenting some of the more than 200 mechanical tests that each phone goes through before hitting the shelves."
Each phone!! ???
That is what i am talking about. This is nonsense. Simple marketing to get people saying - Wow they are really doing a good job!
People who belive that any manufacturer is doing these test to EACh of their product are living in a dreamworld.

Do you expect Nokia to water, heat, cold, streangth, twist, material and scratch test a phone, then put that same phone in a retail box?
As long u are supposedely working at Nokia, ask them to take out your brain and replace it with a symbian system, it might to wonders for your IQ.

Don't talk nonsense, you sound really dumb. Of course they don't do test on all phones and just the prototypes. They test the material which is gonna be on all the mass production phones. As long as they don't change the metal and plastic material composition along with the phones structure in the final production product, then it's the same quality as the prototype. If u test a prototype made out hard plastic but release a phone made from cardboard, then you have a good argument my dumb friend. I work at Ericsson in Sweden, but i dont put my name as "Design Expert" or something like that, please "Repair Technician" my ass, don't make me laugh.

I was working on the Nokia mobile phone productions line for 3 years now in Hungary. Becouse of that I am shocked to read this article ,because it is not thrue!!!!! It is simple marketing nothing more.
I belive that they do some testing with the prototypes of their new phones, but on mass production there is no such things as these tests. There are only quality assurance operators who are doing a simple functional check of the phone. That is it. Nopthing more.
Do you really belive that there is time (money) to do these tests for every phone?
Phones are worthless things, none of these fancy N series or whatever costs more than 10eur to produce. So if it breaks down it can be replaced.
So this article is simple marketing to get you think that Nokia phones are special. No they are not. They are just the rest of the mobile phones. Designed to be replaced next year. That is it.

Nokia has som brilliant marketing brains, the others need to learn how to market a product. Recently the genius Bruce Lee thing of which i read in China times online already has a approx pre order/booking status of 43 million handsets (obiously 95% on long term contract). And now this gimick! Nokia is impressive, no wonder they alone have more shares of the worldwide mobile market the all the other competitors put together. This gimmick will help them sell hundreds of million handsets in third world countries where people can't buy a handset as often as the western world, så thet want durable stuff. Brilliant Nokia, i salute your marketing stratigies, genius!

[deleted post]its firmware issue , not physical components issue. Nokia suck when comes to firmware. I had bad experience with my N96 too

Did they test the 6500 slide ? i dont think so , my phone kept reverting to default settings ( wallpaper and tones ) and a few updates didnt fix this , the shortcut bar doubles when i use the phone *have two of the same shortcut bar).. i was very disappointed with nokia , i switched to Lg

you can't deny that Nokia's are made of great quality, so far i've been pleased with 6670, N73, N95 8GB and rite now N78...had each phone for average a year and they fell a couple of times, had some water spilled and the general wear and tear phones get everyday..and in the end..all was great and i got a solid second had value but you can't deny the fact that other brands such as SE, Samsung..etc have good build qualities as well, a friend of mine has had a W810i for over four years in that time i've changed 4 phones and his W810i is in great shape, there are scratches an all on the exterior from drops and incidents but all the functions are just as they were when it was new...so in the end its good for us customers, these companies are competing for us and in the end we win....later homies
