Even though it's curved it can still get scratched. Most phones today don't get their scratches from flat surfaces, but pocket lint and sand. This will still be a problem until Gorilla glass or Dragontrail becomes resistant to this.

Flip phone w/ a large seemless display. If they overlap an edge, it can double as a small notification panel while the clamshell remains closed.

Guys, don't even mention SONY here, they weren't even able to put good quality display into the Z1 (all the competition uses either IPS or AMOLED displays) so what do you expect from them?

These phone makers need to tell people the truth
There is a big difference between a slight curve in a screen display and a flexiable one.

No you won't, you will straiten it and stick it into your pocket where your keys are, and there you go, soft bendy plastic screen scratched!!

Samsung makes more than 40% oled screens globally and owns most patents for it. It's good that LG and Samsung competing to introduce this tech sooner than expected.

The first flexible display I saw used E ink was black/white only and was made by Philips.

I love how a lot of people say this is unnecessary or uncalled for. If every manufacturer sticked with what they knew and kept it safe, we would en up with a stagnant market with poor products.
Bold manufacturers like Nokia and Motorola took risks and outed the craziest mobile phones. But lately everything has been slight variants of candybar. If LG or Samsung are willing to go out of the industry's comfort zone, I totally welcome it!
On scratch or shatter resistance, or any other possible applications of the technology, let's wait to see how the flexible screens fare in real life, so the praise or criticism is justified.
