If the screen is curved, it wont get scratched as none of its surface will be in contact with another surface.

Hard screen = scratch resistant, bending soft screen = lots of scratches... we are looking for longer lasting batteries please!!

The flexibility is so that when the phone drops on a pointed surface the screen doesn't crack so easily as the force will be reduced. I'm not a physics expert but I guess this is its main use. I know everyone says but that's what gorilla glass is for but its not. Its not so powerful and could use some help from other factors plus gorilla glass was invented to avoid scratches. Gorilla glass+flexible screen = "unbreakable" screens, OR at least that's what they want us to believe ...

AnonD-193976, 07 Oct 2013A curved screen has a wider field-of-view than a flat scree... moreYa maybe when you have a 100 inch screen, otherwise no. People should be investing more time / money into more advanced battery technologies. Where it that nano technology they were talking about that would make batteries last 20 times longer??

The video I watched looked very interesting.. rather than a flexible display/phone.. the screen could fold around the edge, this edge could then be used to extend the display, and show for example message feeds, notifications etc...
