Touchscreen Nokia N97 is the next step ahead with full QWERTY

02 Dec, 2008
The Nokia N97 is most definitely one of the most loaded N-series devices out there, but that's not it's all about. The N97 is the first high-end device powered by the latest touchscreen Symbian S60 OS...

I have tried Nokia (N73 and E90), Sony Ericson -W800i, LG viewty, Motorola & Samsung (Omnia) and I feel safe with Nokia. Nokia delivers what it promises - all its functions work, though of late the N73 has been giving me problems like low volume, slow connectivity to the internet- if it does.
SE had too small a screen but very good sound quality and ease of use. Got a demo of Xperia today - found it not exciting and too hefty a price INR 44K!(& only a 3.2 mp camera).
Having trouble in getting the internet connectivity in Viewty - the video recording is good.
Omnia - good & light - though battery life is not so good - feel more comfy with my E90.
    Nokia - I

Come on People! Quit Crying about the fact that it "Only" has a 5MP Camera! Until you blow up the photo to Poster size(or larger), you can't tell the difference between 5MP and 8MP(if then)! How many of you regularly(if ever!) do that? This Phone has so many great features! Concentrate on what's important!

For all you Nokia fan boys.... you are just fooled into Nokia's marketing tricks.
Just because the spec sheet says something, doesn't mean it's necessarily better in reality. For example, a 16m color screen and a 64k color screen may at times provide equal picture quality, so that is not a determining factor. Additionally, 32GB of memory may appeal to those mostly interested in talking and boasting numbers, but in reality, how many people actually store more than 8GB of RELEVANT data on their phones?? And finally, just because Nokia brings in an old service or concept just rebranded under its own franchise, such as OVI and Maps, doesn't mean it's superior in quality. Facebbok is the most advanced social networking medium and Google Maps is the most feature-rich and interactive navigation service out there - both available free.

So the next time you decide to bash another company's product, claiming Nokia is better, just remember to think about what you're really fighting for. Nokia doesn't care that you risk your reputation to defend its name; it's principally interested in generating profits, even if that means taking you for an endless, sophistical ride and feeding you with all these false notions of its superiority through its innovative and imposing marketing techniques.

it will be quarter 2 or 3 in 2009 by the time this phone come outs, nokia did the same with the n96, the media hyped this phone up to be an "iphone killer" the n97 looks a repeat performer. the specs are exactly cutting edge technology, 5 megapixels, come on nokia this is old today. if nokia don't pull thier socks up apple will over take them

n97 with a 5 mega pixel camera for 2009 release, come on nokia, this is a poor specification on a phone of this calibre.

The iPhone is not in the same class/category as the N97. The former is a feature phone, that doesn't offer a multi-tasking OS, and the latter has a full multi-tasking OS. Therefore, comparisions between the two are useless because the only thing they really have in common are a touch-screen.

Im not too sure why people are hating on the phone and its features.. just because the omnia and the xperia have the features doesnt mean they invented them or were the innovators..
There was a lot of hype for the monia and the xperia also so there shouldnt be anyone speaking negatively about the phone.. Nokia N series phones have always been great feature phones having everything wanted from a consumer.. Just enjoy the fact that this phone has everyhting plus a new UI comning along with the package..

So,even Omnia has faster processor the Omnia is slower than N97.

The same story about the RAM. Symbian with 128mb will never encounter any RAM problems while Windows Mobile with 265 look like a Windows 95 in Pentium II.

Anonymous, 06 Dec 2008Wow 555 posts and counting... Imagine if this phone had ... moreU are speaking about a phone that may, repeat, may see the day light after 6 months time. Other than the memory (superfluous for a handset) what else this phone has to offer. All this hype for a handset which is said to flaunt some repeat some of the features which we have already seen in Omnia , SE X1 & HTC. I am not in fact a Nokia hater. I do own a Nokia E 71(Previously I owned N 95 8 GB), which of course is a decent phone. But the verbal diarrhea of the Nokia die hard fans even before it has got off the launching pad, makes me wonder of the verasity of their claims. Get back to terrafirma my friend.
