AnonD-178262, 22 Oct 2013lol! Tell that to the load retailer nearest you :D China ph... moreHmmm, don't know about that. I happen to have a UMI X2 and gotta say I and most of my friends were impressed when we first saw the quality and performance. It is definitely on par with let's say Samsung or HTC top devices spec-wise. And UMI is not really a shady chinese manufacturer, they even have an official webshop for Europe (umi.eu.com) where I got my phone.

AnonD-178262, 22 Oct 2013It's mostly labelled made in Japan, italy, germany, europe,... moreFoxconn and other chinese OEM companies make pretty much every smartphone on the planet. The iPhone is actually assembled in the same city (Shenzhen) as UMI and most other Chinese (and western) smartphones. If your phone says 'made in the UK', that actually means 'put in a box in the UK'

At last someone shown that Samsung is not the only one to make all the features on the first hand. Other companies are also doing a lot of work in this field.

To see is to believe i guess. Only way to know this is to experience it first.. I'll wait for this Octa core device here in the Phils. Currently i have a dual core Lenovo and it does the job so long as you keep the mentainance good, any device (regardless of number of cores) will work just fine for a long time.

I have to laugh at comments by people who say they got rid of their S3 or S4 or LG Pro or other phone they bought this year because of lag.
Tell me when you were in the store trying it out did it lag? Unless you are very stupid, no, you did not.
Next tell me how much crap you loaded up in the phone and don't turn off services or background processes not in use? If you don't then don't complain about lag on any phone.
The other person making the comment about all phones can lag is correct because there are just so many processes, memory and swapping that can be done before the phone slows. I have seen this with iphone, WP and Android.
Please do not complain about lag. If you bought it that way or can't properly manage the applications then you should probably go to e-bay and buy this phone and use it for about the next 6 years until the 16 core phones come out:

AnonD-80553, 21 Oct 2013Just because you think something, doesn't make it true.
... moreActually multi cores has their own benefit. The technology might not matured yet.
Determine on the complexity of tasks and thread process on phone (nowadays), dual core shall be enough, latter will be marketing gimmick.
Technology NOT ALWAYS related to the price but part of marketing strategies. Will you buy an unbranded phone over branded one with half of the price which said to be on par in performance; can be Yes or No based on circumstances:)

AnonD-134749, 20 Oct 2013going cheap root??? half of the android phone out there has... moreJust because you think something, doesn't make it true.
You seem core-focused, which is pointless. Something the single core mid-ranger Motorola RAZR i proved by beating the topranger and quadcore SGS3 in both single and multitasking.
Next, even China and India phones have had more than 512MB RAM for quite some time, and my 6" Chinaphone is a quad-core running @ 1.5GHz, with a FHD Gorilla glass II screen and has no less than 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. This was not a $700 phone, but a $370 phone. And these exact internals are available in smaller 5" devices such as the Zopo C2 at $240.
For 4000 PHP ($92.66) we got a dual-core snapdragon with 512MB RAM last year. And for less than $93, we honestly did not expect raw performance.
Most sold phones in my country is always top models + a Nokia Asha of the cheapest kind (secondary phones). S3 Mini - in example - does not sell. No one wants the weaker version.
