Similar to the earlier Phonebloks concept, Ara will make upgrading your phone a cinch, if it turns real.

Well technically jolla is the world's first modular phone...

strange how many companies come up with very similar innovations after jolla's 80+ team announces them really.

          WOW!!!!!!!

So, if you are happy with the display and only need to upgrade the CPU/GPU/RAM, you can actually do that with this concept. This is awesome. This may be the first time I am appreciating motorola for something, but hell Ya! You did it motorola. GO GO GO.

            Microsoft Surface is kinda modular
Attachable Keyboard, Attachable PowerCover, Surface Music Kit, http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/accessories/browse#all

when the kinect becomes smaller attachable unit that would be a greater gain.

still, it would be a great engineering to bring all these modules together in a modular phone.

If it was ever made and hopefully ASAP then that would be a revolutionary concept and real innovation not like that curved crap sh!t but probably and sadly the manufacturers wouldn't approve it as it would cause them great damages.

I'll buy one provided it becomes real and below $500 range LOL. Anyways I like the idea of being able to replace a part of my phone on demand, just like I do with my PC.

The idea is really awesome! I wonder how many companies actually have a concept of it?

My big issue is that it will be like all other technology...It will end up with a lot of diversity and compatibility issuer.

This idea is naive. Targeting 0.0001% of custumers? Moto becoming geekphone? How much wd you need developing such product? Effort vs probability of success...
Just very sad that a company of knowledge & innovation has been bought to experiment.
