They could just used plain linux. Just add drivers.

I wonder if ART will also apply to apps moved to Sd card since they are talking about replacing Dalvik. What will the perfomance be when you remove an sd card and then re-insert?

ART is experimental. I do not recommend it yet. I think it will be stable and enabled by default in Android 5.0
btw: WP8 uses AOT compiler

AnonD-88838, 08 Nov 2013thank you google for admitting the lag in android It's not a lag. Only that the application takes a bit longer to start after you select it. But if you are using an android for sufficient long time, you do get used to it automatically.

I wouldn't have a problem waiting for app to install if the battery life and device performance is increasing. Bring it on Google. It would be a major and decisive step towards being truly number one platform.(:)

Exciting stuff and I understand whats going on..
Another rubbish argument is RAM..Lets say device x has 1 GB RAM and with all your apps or games running you have 184MB RAM left why are folk complaining??? If with all your apps running why are you complaining what do you expect to happen you still have 184MB RAM spare..
What I am getting at is why do you want 2GB RAM its just a waste if your not using it,,RAM is their to be used so if you have some left over that's fine all your doing is having 1208MB RAM spare instead of 184 your not going to use that RAM so there is no need to have more just to sit there doing nothing.
There is no valid reason for folk wanting more RAM because device x only has 184MBb left all your doing is activating a bank of RAM to do absolutely nothing except taking battery...In the instance of you opening up more apps going over your RAM limit Android will close another app but having so much open is just pushing a smartphone beyond what even computers could handle.

I think for Android, the most important thing is the RAM management, not the app loading time. I feel that Android is not too good in the memory management, resulting in gigantic RAM upgrade every year.
