Android as OS is free BUT as long it depends on an OEM...the freedom stops.

However locked OS really works like iOS in Apple or WP in Nokia...

Android it self is free BUT it depends on OEMs to be delivered, so, is not free at all...

AnonD-78985, 28 Nov 2013(The app is available to download directly from the Cyanoge... moreWe all have a choice of what phone with which OS we prefer. But apparently you can't stand it there are more OS'es than only android, and there are also people who have a life instead of complaining about WP and try to convince everyone to use android.

AnonD-4697, 28 Nov 2013Did you think OEM shares your point of view about freedom a... moreThat's the thing i don't understand. Why OEM should have a word in this since it's your smartphone and not theirs when you bought it? The devise is not supposed to be my device? Why oem should decide what i can or can't do with my smartphone?

PS: when your load back the original stock os warranty is back.

If i buy something it's my businesses not theirs. I can do what ever i want with my stuff. So for you OEM, Microsoft, Apple, Google etc should not let people do what ever they want with there stuff. WOW

I really starting to understand you now!!!

How about binary counts and many other tools they install in order to prevent modding the phones and void warranty?...do you still think they are in favor of modd?, that handicap still in freedom line?

Where the freedom ends from the point of view of manufacturers and start from the point of view of users?

HTC once help users to do this..never more...Samsung installs Knox and hard binary to prevent modding...they are actually not happy with the freedom terms...

"CyanogenMod installer app removed from the Google Play Store"

Lol seems like is not a nice idea have something that gives more problems than solutions XD this is the kind of things makes me think twice return to Android

"The app specifically violated the Google Play Store Terms of Service by encouraging users to void the warranty of their devices, despite being harmless in its nature.

As you probably know already, void warranty is one of the biggest downsides of rooting an Android device."

                  So much for freedom here!!!

AnonD-78985, 28 Nov 2013Ok what's freedom for you then???I dont look for freedom on cel phones at all...

Average Joe, Gran'ma, Gran'Pa, Uncle John or Niece Denise, don't care about ROM, Cyanogen, Root and many more Android "freedom tools" even some of these "tools" kills the warranty on their beloved phone and makes more and more scared people for use it.

The people want an easy to use phone. Thats all, Android is not easy to use as some people believe. Some stills look Android as a Geeks phone.

Thats why closed OS are growing, in fact, thats why iOS stills on market. So, for me, Freedom on an OS is irrelevant. Im more concerned in quality, Nokia gives me that quality that no other offers, strong and durable phones. I was using Nokia from 1985 and sincerely I still supporting the brand no matter what OS they use.

However I still insist in why see Android users on iOS and WP blogs trolling and yelling about their superb OS. Android is far of beign perfect, and whatever a new ecosystem is Android users are here to bash. Same was on iOS, Symbian and Legacy OS, and their cycle is at the end.

As I said before Android cycle is about to start, Android is getting stuck, and loss of thrust. I still believe Android days is counted. And Samsung knows that thats why they are working on Tizen.....lets see who depends on who. If Samsung of Android or Android of Samsung.

For now WP is not decreasing on users, in fact is growing, growing with Android and iOS ex-users and that is a fact, you will not see WP is getting low on sales thats for sure...

If that's not freedom and choice what is it?

What is your definition of freedom!!

                          Freedom for me is
the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants

You clearly don't have that has an WP and IOS user

If people believes changes some wallpapers, and make some tune ups to phones is the meaning of freedom you are wrong.

Side downloading and side installing apps is freedom that is not freedom.

So? i don't believe people understand the meaning of freedom here. With restricted OS (as you said) you have all in order, no back-door, no Trojans, no virus, no piracy, no mess ups.

Even samsung knows that since Knox can break the freedom bubble, some other don't let you even root your phone...actually if you root you loose any guarantee...so? where is the freedom???
