Sad thing is that they promised support until 2016 and broke their promise. No more money from me, Nokia. And my N8 will keep on working thanks to developers, modders, forums and communities who still believe in Symbian.

They dropped S60 as an operating system as they say it would not be as competitive as the other OS's that the other manufacturers are using. That's the reason they gave why they shifted to WP. I honestly think this is a load of crap. They dropped S60 only to use S40 on their Lumia range of phones? Isn't S40 a lower-tier OS compared to S60? S60 has native multi-tasking capabilities and the other features that is only now being introduced to Lumia phones. If they have just retained the S60 platform beside WP I don't think Nokia would abruptly come to the end that we see now. S60 is more feature-rich and more established compared to S40 so it would have been the more logical choice to use for the Lumia. Bad decision made by the top dog.

They will pay for the mistake at abandoning 2 OS'es. If the Windows Phone 9 will have another UI as is is rumored, then maybe they could have a chance at rising up a little bit.

I hate all the decision nokia has made
I still prefer Symbian over windows in many many aspects.
so many thing I do with my Symbian phone can't with windows Now I have nokia 808, 701 as Symbian
and 920, and 1020 as windows
        I'm sick of windows

Its not good as developers should be able to update its apps and nokia should provide updates to essential apps like maps, ovi music, etc

It's a waste to drop symbian, it's actually a very solid and stable os. I felt great with it. Really wanted to give compliments to the symbian team. Cheers.
