2k display is seriously useless on anything below 20" displays. There's no 2k content to enjoy and this much resolution will only drain battery further.

AnonD-186595, 05 Jan 2014Woow. Sony!!!!!. By the way 1080p resolution is enough.why ... more1080 Enough... lol !
Increasing screen size, doesn't mean it should insert a 2k, even in 5inch. 2k can be inserted ...
WE NEED BETTER DISPLAY... 2k, let it roll

NoName, 05 Jan 2014it's not the battery that needs optimization. it's the display.no need on the display, others the Amoled and IPS is not that great too.

Although I love Sony but I find this news a tad cheating with the customers. I mean all other brands give their flagships one year time but Sony? First Xperia Z then Z1 and now these?

AnonD-120291, 05 Jan 2014i agree, that this phone does sound mouthwatering, but it i... moreYou were on about the bezel again, do you know what is the dimension for Nokia1020 bezel in comparison with Z1, I really want to know, because from my eyes both have large bezel but it is always Sony is the one who is taking the blame, so to be how big is the different exactly in dimension........ ?.

This will not happen until 2nd half of the year Sony have already said that the Z1 will continue to be the company's flagship into 2014 CES 14 will bring the Z1 mini maybe the Xperia E1 and E1 Dual and possibly a few surprises we know nothing about but definitely no new flagship

sony needs to fill the gap between the z1 and z ultra in terms of screen size...so they need to come up w a phablet that has an at least 5.5 " -5.7" display...

ermond12, 05 Jan 2014These specs are really mouthwatering but it's somehow kinda... morei agree, that this phone does sound mouthwatering, but it is 2 soon, but it may also not be a z1 sucessor, maybe a new line of smartphone, i just wish that the z1 bezels were a bit smaller, the z1 is a big phone for its screen size, and had they have been a little smaller then i may have got that phone instead, i will wait to see what comes from sony and samsung before deciding me next years phone, i do love the waterproofing feature though and believe that this should be standard on all phones, its not even difficult to implement, although i would like a little bit more depth on the phone say to a maximum 2.5-3 meters usable, but maybe this will improve over time.

These specs are really mouthwatering but it's somehow kinda disappointing as Z1 has just been around for less than 4 months and now Sony will be or might be offering a better one.
I know something's gonna become greater than Z1 but it's just too soon in my opinion. Just my take on this.
But then again these are great specs.

SONY!! if you have the best hardware but not useful software and interface you are nothing, please Fix battery drain in your devices, please use a better picture processing algorithm on your camera app, please add toggle bars, please add hold to settings on toggles, and please stay on your promises about updating device on time. hey! your devices can be really lighter and slimmer!! I know it's not sony site, but other sony customers complain same issues as me

These are some really impressive specs (even if unconfirmed) to come off a 2014 flagship. Sony will do good to address the main grouses:
1. Display tech: The contrast loss which is in no way made up for by the 2K resolution.
2. Software optimizations: I personally feel, Sony should introduce subtle upgrades to their Timescape UI, at least for the flagships, to differenciate them from the rest of the Sony crowd, which offers the exactly same user interface.

Considered the disastrous large size of Z1 i dont think 5.2 inch is good for Sony, its gonna be bigger than Note 3.
they should make a mini version of this with 4.5 inch full hd display, i will buy if its not too long and wide like the ugly Z1.
