just bought this phone last week for my wife,
overall she is very satisfied with this phone although this also the 1st time she use touch screen after used SE k850 (sucks, the software had badly malfunction even i already return to the shop twice!),n73 music and k800.
the screen is very good (better than my E90) and the menu is very different with the old symbian (example E90 or N95 8gb), very very easy and user friendly to use. audio quality not better than SE walkman series but also ok.
i bought in my country for US$ 368.
very worthed phone with that price.

therock, 23 Jan 2009it is worth buying it.Yes it's worth buying.
It's not among the greatest touch screen phones but at that price it's the best.
And the only problem I have with this phone is it's imaging quality.
But man when you look at that display; it makes you forget every thing.

It's already a known fact that some phones had a hardware problem and the volume could go from high to low during calls. That is an easy to fix problem (you can find description on how to do it or just go to a nokia service which will fix it quite fast), but it seems that the newer phones have corrected this problem. So yes, it still has a few problems and bugs, but that is normal on any new model. The firmware will solve most of the bugs. I will wait a little for newer firmware to appear and also more software and for them to fix all the small problems. My guess is that the phone will be pretty stable in 2-3 months. Once launched in Western Europe, USA and all Asia this phone will have huge sells, probably better than any other competitor. In Romania it's 300-325 euro taxes included and it's the top selling phone on all online stores I checked. I just hope they will improve the homescreen too as I with there were more than 4 shortcuts on the main screen (there are applications which allow you do add more shortcuts but they use some battery and cost some extra bucks)

I had an iphone and it was nothing but problems
-the screen had too many gliches
                  -it use to restart daily
-after 2 weeks the battery life was cut by a half
                  -no bluetooth transfer
                  -no video camera
                  -internet gps
-to get the iphone i had to get a data plan (Useless cuz I barely used it) Its just another F**k*n extra charge the network wants to make money on us

I say F*C* Iphone, its dead, come up with something new

Nokia 5800 atleast fits nicely in your pocket and hand cuz its thinner

Go for NOKIA 5800 its a lot of features for a cheapper price

I just got the phone and its excellent in everyway but 2. (lol)
                    1. The camera is not good at all compared to my x-phone (N82).
                    2. The GPS is (A-GPS) which connects to internet each time you want to activate the GPS unlike other Nokia GPS which was always Data FREE GPS.

other than that I really recommend the phone to anyone, especially over the IPHONE (which is Over rated with no features).
I have never had any DROPPED CALLS (Thats a network problem no a phone problem, you people need to understand that)

the touch screens is quite responsive without any gliches.

"Dont listen to any reviews because all the review flaws that i have read or viewed on youtube, dont exist. the reviewers are too crittical for their own good, everyone has their own opinion, NOTHING IS PERFECT... there would have to be 6 billion nokia 5800 built differently for everyone in the world if it was up to the phone reviewers, what works for one may not work for others"

This will just be more Nokia garbage... Lagging, freezing, fault after fault... A poor interface and an over hyped brand. The iphone is the only tough phone worth getting as it's interface and software power and the way the touch works are second to none and head and shoulders above the rest. As was said though it lacks some simple features, so basically guys, there is no perfect phone...YET! If Apple smack, bluetooth (file transfer), MMS, Video(120 FPS) and an 8MP camera will that is the perfect phone in terms of hardware and software... Oh and make sure the GPS is voice active.

Plus the 5800XM isn't carrier branded like the iPhone.... Ppl forget that Nokia sold 450+ millions phones last year, to them the 5800XM is just another phone, Apple on the other hand only sells the iPhone.

therock, 23 Jan 2009i agree with your point about the iphoneAnd it's unfortunate because it needs to be a good phone, first and foremost. All the bells and whistles are great but if I can't make a call, get lousy reception or dropped calls then what's the point of spending all that money? My N95-3 does everything I need it to do and then some. The 5800 is just too nice to pass up though. I guess I'll have to keep the N95 as a backup phone..lol
