joker, 23 Jan 2009Nokia - 30% Sasmsung - 15% Compare it - 2:1, or in othe... moreYes , you are right but you should also note that nokia's market share is decreasing while samsung's and lg's are increasing.
This is the curent trend nowadays.
I was a nokia fan but now i must say that they are finally getting what they deserve. No design or even tech inovation in nokia for the last 3 years or so. They just sell the same thing in diifferent packages and most times even the packges look alike.(exemple the hole NSERIES and ESERIES are just 2 design stereotypes - well the NSERIES has bigger variation but only a few.)

The build quality has also gone bannanas in some cases plus a lot of sofware issues. (i live close to a nokia service and i saw a looong line of people there (10to20) for a few times , there is also rarely the case that there is no one there to get there nokia fixed)

I believe that one can reduce all the hundrets of nokia devices to just about 10 platforms - if you open them up you can see where the differences were made simply by changeing a 2.0 camera with a 3.0 or making some design changes that almost dissapear when you take the case off. (example nokia 7210, 7310 , 5000 are one device , 5300-5200 , 2660-2760 , N81-N81 8gb , N95, N95 8gb ) and the list may go one , the only unique (and when i say unique i mean that they have no brothers and sisters or cosins) phones are , by now the 5800 and N97.

Plus that, i dont know how they do it but all their line looks the same! , I can look for no more than 3 seconds at them and i get bored.
I mean okei , let's keep the "brands soul" in order to make it stand out on the street as an individual of the brand but this is way too much!

Get yourself some good design team and start focusing on quality not quantity! Is my advice to nokia , and i believe that if they don.t follow it they won't be the market leader in the next 5 to 10 years.

People(in the mass sense of the word) finally noticed what i've been noticing for years: that buying Nokia just because they are the market leader is not allways the best choice. The inertia of buying nokia phones cose they are "numero uno" / they are the best is finally coming to an and. I do hope that this is a wake up call for them and that they will remember now what made them first cose it's clearly not their current policy wich just kept them first but no more.

I don't understand how you people can call lg crappy , okei you can hate the UI , i can live with that but in terms of build quality they are way in front of nokia ( wich squeeks on every button press - not true for all phones just my genereal impression about most of them )
They use much better plastics wich feels more solid.

Why if Nokia do a good or bad job the haters say a lot of nasty comments about it? I think they are really envy Nokia for become the world biggest and greatest cellphone maker... What a stupid, spoiled little brat

" Quite an optimistic forecast for sure, but having seen the company recent development not a totally unachievable one. "
                                  - i love this quote! they are turning down Samsung really really hard! ;)

                                      1 - Nokia - 37.8% of market shares
                                      2 - Samsung - 15.8%
