Yes plastic is almost more practical and durable in most ways.
But there are still preferences. Yes many more people like plastic than the trolls would like you to believe, but some do like metal. And Samsung has made metal phones with removable back and SD slot. Even the S4 Active is plastic and water proof, but still removable battery.

I have s4, excellent phone.. only shame for 2 different camera sensors.. not fair... and i will skip s5 and wait for s6 :P and one thing, SAMSUNG, keep it simple with screen size, please..all these ppi are bullyouknow what.. with s4 you did excellent job.. 5" is enough for phone 5,25" is max limited.. everything over that is NOTE, phablet and so on. Listen to us, your customers! :)

This statement of your i have a big problem with, simiply shows how silly to just judge something because it was sold cheaper. A phone sold cheaper does not mean a phone was made cheaper... There are many factors involved in selling it at a certain price.
Also when you said that samsung's cheap plastic phones cost more to make than the metal iphones, it can be alot of factors as well. maybe simply Samsung doesn't know where to buy good and cheap plastics.
