Motorola and nexus programs in india are fail here. Always high prices opposite their US prices. They might be having price advantages in rest of world but not here. The $350 price of nexus 7 is cheap for other countries but here it is the most expensive small tablet. I mentioned $350 model because wifi is not popular in india and hotspot cafe are very rare.

        180 USD = ₹ 11,000 approx.
15-16,000 price is ridiculous for 8 GB variant. Indian people buy phone keeping after sale service in mind , Since Motorola failed in their earlier stint, it will be interesting to see how many people will be ready to buy this MOTO G with non-removable battery at such an inflated price tag .

AnonD-112901, 21 Jan 2014This is set on to be a failure in India. Indian consumers k... moreYou right. Sony also tried to do as Google wanted in 2012 by omitting cardslot in S/SL, P and U and wow did they learn their lesson, the sales were poor and every model since had cardslot. HTC One is a great example, was the most often recommended phone of 2013 and still it sold just a few million, much less than Xperia Z which has barely been recommended at all by reviewrs. LG G2 followed by selling only 2 million in 2 months despite being very highly recommended, thats barely half of what Xperia Z sold in 1 month.

I hope people do not buy Motocrapola or Nexus phones, and especially so in India and comparable countries where most users report that they have only GPRS/Edge connection most of the time.

By the way, sad that the old fashion dual sim users got their way and now everyone will be forced to pay extra for the second sim slot they do not want.

even single peanut above 13k for dual 16gb model waste of money because already we have a lot of better options than Moto G for that cost

[deleted post]Buying cheap Samsungs is pretty much the worst mistake possible. Better to buy Micromax or similar.

personally when on holiday I don't use my phone camera waste of time.

My last two phones did not have SD card readers and I found I was not at disadvantage at all

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2014Google does not use SD slots and andriod does not offically... moreThis is set on to be a failure in India. Indian consumers know what is best and will definitely go for it. Micromax and others already have deep roots in this mid-segment and nobody's likely to be able to invade this stronghold that soon.

No matter how much Google spread the 'knowledge' that microSDs are not good, everybody knows exactly why the memory cards are a preferred way of memory expansion.

Google wants to force people to use their cloud storage, eventually earning more money and forcing excessive use of bandwidth. Can you install Apps on cloud? Can you see content of cloud when you are offline? Can you use your cloud when you are on a vacation somewhere and you need storage for storing photos/vids? No brother.

These companies are eliminating memory expansion to create Apple like pricing tiers. They'll ask more dollars for more GBs. Just show me one example where the increased internal memory offers better cost than memory expanded with microSD.

HTC says compact body won't allow them. They why microSD in dual sim version of One?
Google says use cloud storage. Yeah sure, for backup it's fine but not for everyday use. Especially in third world countries where fast internet is still a luxury.
Samsung knows the best and see, they are successful.
Micromax tried to step in this game with Canvas Turbo, but they are badly beaten with poor sales. They won't try to pull it off again.
Nokia also knows and mostly includes expansion.

From an expandable memory campaigner ..
