03 Feb, 2009

This phone as 480 x 800 pixels, 4.1 inches, 1 GHz processor, 9.9 mm, WOW great job, i got a nokia N82, and i think nokia is starting to be far behind the competition. Even HTC and samsung are building phones with better features, what is wrong with nokia???

The screen size is just right .... Keep it up
however a slide out qwerty keybord
      a stylus
      dual sim card
      a standard charger
and 32 gb onboard storage would make it a unbeatable phone

People need to stop comparing every touch screen phone that gets released to the iPhone! Its starting to become a redundant statement! Just like "iPhone Killer". If the iPhone was not the standard bearer then every touch screen to see the light of day would be compared to something else. Why not compare them to the G1, X1, Storm, HTC HD etc?! People's statements just come across as bitter to me.

AyashiFX55, 03 Feb 2009Jesus christ, 1ghz in mobile phones !!! Screw the iphone an... moreI agree with you,,fed up to back teeth with i-phone banter,,its no good to 90% of people as mms is a basic camfone spec since sharp gx10 way back then..Spend all that cash and cannot wait to send your mates a picture off the 2mp i-phone cam then you cant,so you decide to bluetooth it to comp to email pic to mates but cant,, its not a device i would be given free to have cause its abosolutly no use to me..

Back to toshiba,,lets see if 1ghz can improve speed of things and keep up battery as said and if this is possible then 1ghz needs to be implemented in all future smarfones as a minimum ..Getting fed up with speed of devices recently including xperia,,samsung innov8 and my laptop.....

            That device is great!
iPhone killer? Well for sure, like many other devices in the market that offer SMS forward, MMS, video recording, sync with an address book, long URLs, contact search, multitasking... let's stop there. Steve Jobs is already off sick... Let's not add to the pain...
            But that's not the point.

Look at this beauty: slim, fast, a funky UI (I bet it is better than WM anyway) and you can watch Divx (no fees :), gees, bring it on!!!

And for those who want a smaller device, well get a Nokia 1xxx, it's got a torch :) but note that it does not do video, gaming or satnav...

I want one, or maybe 2 if I win the lottery, 1 white and 1 black...

I need this phone. Like right NOW !!!

Apple's iphone...operator locked, no bluetooth, no portrait keyboard for messages, sub-par application support...all for just $800. No thanks.

              Really looking forward to this.

                oohh come on!!!
It seems like a great phone but its unusable, it's too big... I have an iphone and I find it kind of big but acceptable,. But this thing is huge.. it has great specs and all but it's like walking with my laptop. where I'm suppose to put this phone I bet it doesn't fit any pocket..

Sorry toshiba!! I hope that's only a prototype and that you'll consider making it smaller or at least the same size as the HD or iphone..
And what about that crapy camera?? sony ericsson is launching a 12 MP camera and you put a 3mp one on such great phone??

                Frank

Definitely nice to have such a big screen, and also nice that it's so thin. But isn't that thing going to burst when dropped for the first time? I mean, iPhones can hardly handle drops, how is this toshiba going to do?

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2009iphone set the standard for touchscreen phones so everyone ... moreset the standard u hv got 2 b joking. iphone still cant record video, copy and paste, mms, and it lacks a proper bluetooth. these were available on other phones way b4 iphone. and the form factor was used on several other phones b4 iphone.
slide to unlock and using finger gestures to navig8 tru menus was first demoed by neonode back in 2002. iphone didnt do anything that other phones b4 it cudnt do. accelerometer was used on an htc product but only to scroll up and down.
the media has built up the iphone so its only normal that each time a new one comes out the media will ask is this the iphone killer? and then answer it no bcos of some stupid excuse eventho the iphone has worse specs

finally a gud smartphone by toshiba.

                            just a few questions:
does it hv accelerometer for UI auto-rotate? (not a big deal)
does it hv a capacitive or pressure sensitive touchscreen? (big deal)
also what is the color depth (im guessing 65k since thats the most winmo the difference is noticeable wen u compare 256k color to 16mil color screens so imagine how much worse it wud be with 65k colors. the human eye can see millions of colors but scientists dont know how many millions accurately)

Jesus christ, 1ghz in mobile phones !!! Screw the iphone anyways, the only reason why iphone "Seem" so fast is because you cannot do multitasking. It focuses only on each application you do to maximize the speed but if you want to alt-tab or go back to menu and come back to where you were, FORGET ITT !! Good job toshiba. You guys rested long enough.

"I wish it was 5 megapixel". If you have half a brain to write a comment you must also know that the number of megapixels doesn't matter.
It's all about the quality of the lens. A 2mp could be just as good if not BETTER than a 3.2mp etc etc.

Who really wins when its come to new innovation.........THE CONSUMER. Bring on more competition, less expensive mobile devices, so in the end consumers win.

The only big problem this prone has is the UI... but if I can get HTC UI to work on it... then this phone would be almost an obvious choice... the only real rivals of it are HTC HD and N97... HD has a 3.5mm jack, and N97 has a qwerty key board and symbian OS... put a proper UI or OS on it and its the best phone ever... 1gh, 4.1 screen, 9.9mm thick... but still it looks SO big...
