Nokia Lumia 810 and 822 to miss on the Lumia Black update

T-Mobile's Lumia 810 and Verizon's Lumia 822 may not get the Lumia Black update, WP8.1 is uncertain.

      Could it be that Samsung paid off Verizon and T-Mobile to not release this update to their carrier locked phones thereby hurting the rapidly growing windows phone market?

      I have no ideas about this and am a really really upset owner of a nokia lumia 822.
      All I can do it speculate the various possibilities.
      If this news could somehow be confirmed, I might even go for developer unlocking of my phone that I have the auto rotation lock that I had so so eagerly been waiting for.

          General question: if you buy a factory-unlocked Lumia phone off contract, can you update the phone without depending on the carrier? (e.g., use desktop software to do so?)

          I'm considering buying the next Lumia camera flagship (1820 maybe?), but don't want to be prevented from receiving updates by a carrier.

          I'm on T-Mo in the US and currently use an off-contract-purchased 808.

              This is sheer cheating. They probably think that doing this will help them sell 928 better, but beware verizon, you could have massive loss in popularity on account of this.
              822 is one of the most popular handsets in the US and not giving it black update might seriously upset your userbase in the future.
