I am not from the US. If there are no Sony phones on Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. Sony would lose a lot. Only a few Americans would buy unlocked $700, it's because price is steep, they prefer paying monthly. Sony keeps bragging Europe and Asia that's not enough. Yeah, Sony stores in the US sells it unlocked. Sprint and Verizon already have promos for S5.

The difference is that Z2 has:
-larger and improved screen
-smaller bezels.
-Faster CPU
-4K Video receording and TimeShift
-3GB RAM
-lighter weight and is thinner and more narrow
-SteadyShot
-Better speakers
Also, it comes with KitKat and will probaly receive at least one more OS update compared to Z1 - which seems to matter a great deal for some on this site.
X-reality is a mode to improve video. However it does not. It sets the contrast way too high and over saturates the colors like most amoled screens. It's best kept off.

Why do US always get the good stuff so cheap?
I guess it's b'coz of the strict Government there.

I thought it's quite on the pricey side. But given that the phone has all the premium materials equipped to it, there really has to be a reason. Other top phones could also be priced slightly more or less, but I will still choose Z2 over the S5 because I think I'll feel I invested for a much true premium device.

Absolutely appropriate price with regard to ip 5s. It should cost at least double 5s price.

Sony z2 is remarkable, although there is no ios, thin bezel as LG, as well as software that is full of features like samsung, but I still want to buy it ..

I am using Z1 and so does some of my friends, and I still consider to upgrade to Z2 anyway... At least Z2 is more attractive to me than Samsung Galaxy S5, without admiring that Samsung's software is excellent, especially in Galaxy Note3.

Great phone from Sony.... Looking at this compared to the S5 I'd go for this due to quality, camera, build, support and design.... As well as the screen and battery. Fair point that some Z1 users may be a little put out however in the UK we tend to upgrade every 18 to 24 months so anyone moving from a phone older than 12 months will notice a massive difference. Well done Sony...now sort your marketing out and let people know how good these phones are... All my friends who have a z1 or Z love them!
