I don't mind you guys thinking i'm BSing it but the two phones xperias here had problems. I'm not anti Sony or any make as all phones are ideal for all kinds of people. Who knows, we might have been very unlucky at this end in getting phones that are "not the usual Sony standard" (especially when from the same store) but when you do a search to try and find a solution to the problem and find others suffering similar issues you start to wonder.

So i do understand you being defensive.

Okay than I want atleast 4000 mAh battery in next Sony Z3.I hope Sony will improve their camera performance and Charging Time. Wireless Charging is also needed. At least 5.5" 4K display. and 4GB RAM should be a better option.

Sony Z2 is now market leader in Smartphone world.

I really hope Android will make a better OS. Now they did Kitkat with lower requirements but they must follow Microsoft filosofy. Where is Android driver librery. It must be done like Microsoft. Every company must upload their new tech at Google server. And Google must update system like Microsoft. That would push all updates to every phone directly. Even if there is bloatware and skin over it the system must install under it. In deep. Just like Windows OS. But that is Googles task to make OS like that.

I hope the next Sony flagship has some serious camera tech in. Do a Nokia and put a bulge in if you have to but I want Xenon and LED flash (for video), high quality mics, OIS and lossless zoom (ie a 1020 on Android...)

HTC M8 User, 28 Feb 2014Where is the mind blowing difference between Z1 & Z2? S... moreWell, which specs of the HTC M8 that you think better than what the Sony Z2 has?
Rumour indicates that most of M8's specs are not better than Galaxy S5, except the metal body. If true than it would be worst than the Z2.

Also, unlike Samsung & Sony, HTC's website has not yet confirm the M8. Therefore, it could arrive a bit later.

XperiaSp™, 28 Feb 2014i'm sorry to hear that, but i don't think it happens on all... moreDont worry, neither has he, he is full of something, trying to generalize a problem with signal with phones that had access to the best antenna engineers and the latest and greatest mobile antenna tech in the world, Ericsson, the worlds number one in professional telecom equipment dont understand signal, but here comes a guy with one phone and know more than this telecom giants engineers combined? Smells something for sure.

Xperia phones has great signal, thats well known. defective units happen with all brands but generalizing it is well into brand bashing territory. The only brand that can be bashed for that, based on lab tests, are phones with Exynos 4 series chipsets, remarkably poor on GSM signals. That means mainly Galaxy S3 (not US versions) and Note 2 (all GSM versions)

Thomas, 28 Feb 2014I can tell you that the phones are on the same network and ... moreThats not a general signal problem, all my xperias had good signal, better than Nokias i had as well, Xperia Pro vs Nokia N9 for example, when in the car the Pro would receive text messages in places the N9 never had a signal using the same network, and this was consistently since i drove that place 6 times a week and used both phones actively.

More recently, Xperia Z vs Galaxy Note 2, cant say the difference was significant with HSPA signal but with GSM and EDGE it was like night and day, with the Z easily getting 2 or 3 bars when the Note 2 reported No Network. Galaxy S3 and all other phones with similar chipsets had same problem, consistently.

But saying that Xperias have consistent signal problems is BS of the third degree.

Surely though an upgrade a year though is better than every 6 months, a fair few people will wait till the phones drop in price after a few months but i feel sorry for those who will not get the updates expected, it is bound to happen with the way some phones launched recently. I think many people are going to think twice before buying a Sony after hearing this news.

XperiaSp™, 28 Feb 2014we must take in consideration that signal quality is not so... moreI can tell you that the phones are on the same network and are just terrible, as an example a Nokia 620 on the same network as the Xperia S (in this case) can hold a conversation driving across the city where as the Xperia is even lucky to get a signal at all. It wasn't even just one Xperia S suffering the problems. I witnessed one die on a couch, the screen just went totally white, despite reinstalls etc etc it has never worked since.

Standing in the middle of 3 masts on the correct network the Xperias are in luck if they get a signal.

The only time they got a signal that was strong enough was within 100 meters of a mast in direct line of site.

I've seen the Xperias not receive calls one minute and then get the call the next from within the same room from a different make of mobile.

I've been a Sony Ericsson user in the past and never had problems with them but the troubles i've seen from them now is just silly. When contacting Sony about the Xperia problems all you get is "Try the sim in a different phone" or "Reinstall the firmware" then when you tell them that they say "Take it to a repair centre" None of these things seem to solve the problem.

Now with them talking about 6 months life span of the phones seems optomistic even by their standards when some people are having trouble getting them to work out of the box!

imho, i think it has got to do with the relentless improvements in technology. In the next few months, i'm sure Qualcomm will try to match or outdo the octo-core front runners right now, exynos and mediatek, if that happens, would you as a manufacturer be content with having your flagship powered by "older" slightly slower chipsets? hell no, you want to project you're the best because you have the meanest, baddest hombre in your line up. just my two cents worth...

SONY is not forcing us to upgrade every 6 months. It makes sure that it is trying to be always ahead of Samsung & Apple in regard to the Specs that it can offer to potential customers who comes out of contract near that period.

Sony Z2 has Stereo Speakers, Noise cancelling headphones, Built-in FM Radio Hardware, 3200 mAH Battery, Better Finish Product, 50% more RAM, Better Waterproofing (Level 8), Higher Pixel Camera (20.7 MP). These leave Galaxy S5 behind.

Samsung & Apple’s finger print sensor? No way.
We don’t want to give away our finger print away, or do we?
