I think the ... moreI think its because you look at it for hours a day everyday and if its miserable design it depressess you..I am guilty of choosing a lower spec smartphone because it looks better..I think it also due to showing off,,if you have a crap looking phone you get teased but have a stylish one and people comment..Iphone springs to mind..

There was always going to be HD,there will be 2K and then 4K. It's just evolutionary. Companies will improve cameras, batteries, data connection, etc. Those are the common parts of the phone.
