just so you know anything over 7/8 MP wont make any difference to the picture. the only way you will see the difference is if you blow the picture up to the size of a house wall. what makes the difference will be the lens - nokia are using a carl zeiss lens, one of the best in the world - samsung use samsung lens a crap plastic lens which gives inferior results.

I don't like this phone,cause this phone not use xenon flash,still use led flash,so the 8 mp camera not good function.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2009this phone can change the aperture at F2.8/3.2/4.8 very ... moreagain.. I'm stressing... multiple apertures doesn't matter in a camera phone nor a point in shoot. So little light is entering into the small sensor that the change in the amount of light is next to nothing. The effect on a P&S is greater, but still not very large. Its not until you get into APS-C,35mm or medium format the f-stop will actually do something and add or lessen the amount of 'bokeh'

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2009So the idea of having camera on a phone originated from the... moreopen ended questions misleads the study. it has to be close ended. that is why its called a survey because they are suppose to find out what the consumers would prefer among the choices. and also, close ended questions save time since no respondent would be willing to answer such a long survey. the survey has to be brief,short and concise. if you have noticed, most survey's have choices and the open ended questions falls ONLY a part of the survey. open ended questions serves as a back-up or gather other "crazy" opinion of the respondents.

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2009So the idea of having camera on a phone originated from the... moreso are you telling me that you are going to argue with a system that has been running for years? dont argue with me,thats how any researchers should conduct a study.what i shared to you is like the A,B,C's of survey construction.if you are going to argue with that, wow,you must be really smart. a survey can never have "open ended questions" the whole time. that is just plainly nonesense. yes, you can have a LITTLE open ended questions such as "others" or "comments and sugestions" but you cant use open ended questions on things that are very important.the camera is something that is very important because the company spend millions on developing that. after what i shared to you, i cant believe you still have the guts to argue with that...ask any researcher about constructing a survey. i think you need an expert. and for your information i did not say that "the almighty brand" was the first to develop. all i said was it was the provider that set the trends because the idea came from them not from the consumers....

The almighty brand "purposes" build phone with plastic casing, which actually suffers more scratches and fading paint than casing with steel, so people need to buy more casing to keep their phones looking good.
(I've seen the plastic casing of N76/N95 months after they were released which can't match the looks on my V60i)
Just another way the almighty brand to earn more $ from its consumers...and still attracts so many followers to defend whatever it does being correct....

If I recall correctly, some other brands came out with "add on" camera on a phone...which even took non-color (yes) photo before the almighty brand did.
So surveys can only have closed ended questions? So no "crazy" idea can be accepted? So why some surveys still have open-ended questions? Again, given the almighty brand's vast resources, couldn't it even take in 1000, if not 10,000, open ended answers for "idea generation"?
The reason I call the brand almighty is the fact it somehow makes people to BELIEVE the almighty brand can do almost everything, when indeed it doesn't.
So after 4+ years the company spent to develop its first 3G touchscreen phone, I wonder when will it release the next slim flip phone...if the company emphasizes so much to offer "a phone for everyone" (or as some believers claim so) why can't the company offer a slim flip phone to "everyone"?

The easiest way to get rid of scratches is to get rid of the casing. And Nokia provides plastic casing because it’s cheaper to produce and they can sell it in the market for an affordable price. You know what your problem is? You generalize people and think that they are like you. If it is so hard for you to understand then ask yourself, why do people still buy Nokia? Nokia is still around the corner, right. Sure there are so many haters (not to mention: you) but Nokia is still being patronize by many.

When making a survey, each question has to be “close-ended” (meaning; the questions must have choices).why? Because of few reasons such as; one: open ended questions will not make the study synchronized. When conducting a survey, it will be better if you conduct “random sampling”. When giving your random variables (respondents) open ended questions, your study will just come out invalid due to unsynchronized answers. Since Nokia is known to be competing worldwide, I am assuming that they have distributed more or less 1000 questionnaire (minimum is 100 correspondents for local survey) around the world. Just imagine how many things these 1000 respondents might have given Nokia in open ended questions such as “what would you want in a phone”. Even if you say there are at least 300 who wrote camera as their choice however, that would still be considered invalid because it has to reach at least 60% and less than 50% is very risky for Nokia to assume that camera is what the people want and should be included in the package. Second: close ended questions are designed for the convenience of the one conducting a survey. Just imagine how they can segregate 1000 different answers. As I have mentioned a while ago, Nokia needs at least 60%, do you think you would be able to get 60% if you have open ended questions? And I am only guessing that Nokia might have chosen at LEAST 1000 respondents which I believe is too few if you were to compete in a global scale. Third: open ended questions have limitations. If you were to give questions that is like “what do you want”, there are only a few people that happens to be creative. Of course, 8 years ago, who would have thought that a camera in a phone on a single package would be possible? Now, only Nokia can say yes to that question since they have the technology that can permit them to do so. But only a few would think that it MIGHT be possible (and please, don’t argue with this statement because not everyone can think alike. I was once in a research g group that conducted a study and this issue has already been answered). Fourth: choices should be provided according to the capacity of the provider. If Nokia provided a question that are open-ended, all answers that cannot be provided by Nokia is considered trash. And I don’t think Nokia would be willing to waste 1000 survey just because of an invalid test and reconstruct it all over again because that is just a waste of time and money( researchers are paid to do this study and believe me they don’t come in cheap package. And time issue, Nokia is competing in a fast paced competition. Nokia didn’t have much time 8 years ago since all CPs just virtually look the same and have features that are similar to others. Technically, the only difference is the Brand name).
So basically, the idea was provided by Nokia. Random respondents just have the privilege to choose. And why do you even quote Nokia as “the almighty brand” and the only thing you do is give negative comments?

Scratch casing, guess it all depends on the "quality" from the manufacturer. I just digged out the oldest phone I've right now...an 8+ years old Moto V60i, my other phone, Moto V3maxx i-mode, was dropped several times, and I don't see much scratch on them at all. Why scratch is a problem for the almighty brand?
So people can't only file complaints here? Can a company improve through complaints or compliments only? Well, just need to find out if the almighty company ever listens to its customers to begin with...

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2009So the almighty company, with the greatest resources in ter... moreok first, i dont care if nokia dont fix their "heat conducting" problem. thats their problem. and as for that "test" or survey nokia came-up with..let me ask you, who placed the option "camera" in the survey?? it was nokia that came-up with that idea long before people started to notice that a camera on a phone is "neccessary".
and an addition to the plastic casing issue, nokia also made their units in plastic casing because Nokia noticed it long before the consumers found out that the sight of a "scratch" is just something very disturbing. try buying an Xperia.give it one noticeable scratch.and resell it according to the price or value given to 2nd hand xperia. plastic casing is cheaper and people would be willing to buy to maintain exterior appearance. you may have not noticed it but there are people who would like to preserve the "freshness" of the exterior appearance of their CP.
and why do praise nokia whila also saying that they suck on every peoples money? because...one: i really did meant it when i said that nokia did a very good job on making such a phone like the n86. its not everyday that nokia comes-up with such a CP packed with such things.. two: i like what nokia made, but they just jack-up the price so much up to the extent that people see it as uneccessary. i give complements to a fine job and criticize things that needs criticism. unlike you that gives nothing but complaints....you should learn how to appreciate more what others do...
