I've used only one Motorola since the year 2000. The StarTAC. It's still functional and in almost pristine condition. Now the fun part. I've personally seen people almost "salivating" over this piece.

Even now -- whenever occasionally I put a SIM in it -- I see people getting the jaw-dropping look on their faces. The external and extendible antenna is and/or might be the most beautiful cosmetic addition to a cell phone of today. After all it gives the phone a "Hollywood Look". True or false?

And a truly functional external antenna also helps SAR values -- technically.

I wish people would read more before they start barking.

          This phone fails if:
You use it as a normal everyday phone.
You use it as a fashion statement.
You want a good looking camera/music phone.

          This phone is great if:
You need a sturdy phone for your work location (quarry, warehouse, mill, mine, offsites, etc).
You need a good phone with rich applications for business use.
You use to call a lot and need a walkie talkie.

Bring an Omnia, iPhoney, 5800 to a quarry and watch it break itself.

Unfortunately, seems like places outside of Japan doesn't use QR code much at the moment (other than boarding pass for airplanes)

So who is leading the technology here? The almighty brand? The I ? Music Brand? Do they offer such "industrial" communication device?

It's still not IP57 though. My wondering continues... I wonder if they'll make phones with higher than IP57 certification.... =3 Oh well... What's more is when they'll make stylish IP certified phones with HOT features. That would be like heaven. THE PERFECT PHONE!!!

Yes Motorola. Slowly coming back. I hate the external antenna though but maybe the antenna will make good signal strength. The antenna reminds me of ruggedness. I wonder when they'll make smartphones that have both touchscreen and IP57 certification like the Sonim XP3 Enduro or the Samsung.

This Moto "device" is capable of scanning barcodes and RFID tags. (for those who don't know what RFID is, don't ask me here...the web is designed to search for info)

Or else, one can look at currently how "small" the device is being used by FedEX and UPS, when being compared to this Moto "phone".

because children, some phones are aimed at specific markets for specific purposes! wouldnt have thought it was too hard to wrap your head around the fact that this phone is aimed at couriers and the like... not the general consumer...

Just how many dimwits are here on the forums? Do you guys actually have the eyes to read the article? It says it's for business and industrial applications, not end-users like us! The ruggedness is meant to compliment the work these people do, so stop posting useless comments that this phone is ugly. Give those industrial workers a sleek RAZR and it will break in no time.

It's not a consumer handset unless you are looking after a fleet of couriers, managing a warehouse etc.

It's pure business, solid reliable, get's the job done.
