WFT with the grey market, blacklisted imei and now region locked. These phone companies and the network provider are really corrupted. Back then selling my used phone was easy so i can take the extra cash to upgrade to the newer phone which they release every year. Now these companies make the 2nd handed phone really hard to sell with those region locked. What crack me up is that any network provider offer you to trade in your phone for a very cheap price. F*** these companies are so corrupted. Sorry for my English

Regional or operator lock, same or sifferent impact ?? Ex. If I have an operator locked Galaxy s5(lgu+ in korea) talking 5 min and then travel and bring it to another country inserting another local operator's simcard...is supposed to work then or has it always to be used w the original korean operator's simcard and hence using expensive roaming ????
In case no..Can a local Samsung dealer outside korea unlock this Korean operator S5...????

What is this all craziness about? Just sell the phone , simple as it is. I am now thinking to switch to LG or Sony.
Getting sick of ridiculous marketing plans. They better get rid of that Marketing Director. What a waste

you are somewhat right
you buy phone in a country
than you put SIM card of any carrier from that country
make 5 minutes of calls
than you will be able to use any SIM card of any carrier of any country on that phone
it is not carrier lock, it is region lock, so that to stop smuggling of phone from one region to another

As a Samsung fan I don't remember asking for region lock? maybe we did as a group. If so, have nothing but praise for it and a great idea for sales control.
TouchWhiz and Samsung proving the lags has always been a lie since 2.3.1

What I would like to know since there are reports that this 5 min call does not sometimes: were are these people making calls from? I bought an unlocked phone from Amazon years back and they had a special were they sent a prepaid UK sim card with it. If I were to use that technically it should work, but I'm wondering if the phone will register that I am roaming here in the US and still not remove the region lock until I actually use the phone IN the region the phone is from AND the country the sim is from.

Dropped and broke the digitiser of the previous phone, next day wife sent a brand new Note 3,without being aware I activated it with local sim, and now stucked here with region locked phone. Even though made several minutes of calls with European sim, phone still refuse to accept out of "region" sims, nobody here from Samsung are even aware of the subject, since two weeks I am awaiting the help of Samsung from the "region" and each day I am cursing their policy of "customer service / help".
