They don't even bother with the consumers who don't pay any attention to how much items cost.

Samsung's flagships could easily be confused with a low-mid tier mobile.

It would appear that it is viewed as a high-end mobile, & thus commands a premium price.

iPhones hold their value better than any mobile in current production. I happen to believe it's the materials used.

Yes, people with 20/20 vision can distinguish the difference. Displaymate has a good explanation, but those with good vision can distinguish up to about 600ppi at 1 foot distance. You don't see the actual pixels, but you do notice the display is sharper.

And, you need to subtract the cost of the iPhone's current display to get it's cost with the newer Samsung display. According to IHS website, the iPhone 5s diaplay costs $41, so with the Samsung GS5 display, the 5S would cost $199-$41+$63 = $221, still less than the S5.

If Apple does not come up with at least a 5 inch display device, more iPhone users will desert it, including me.

In my country the S5 selling price is around USD 750 while the cheapest iphone 5s is around USD 950. Thats why iphone is so overpriced. About the display even the gsm arena admit that the s5 is the best display smartphone so far. Have u seen the s5 display? I've seen it n it noticeably way better than the iphone 5s. Way vivid yet natural n crisp.

But my point is - why Android OEMs are not considering the needs of old people who have money to spend? Why only apple make products for them? Pchan, 18 Apr 2014Again, samsung had a large lcd display with way more better... moreBetter quality how exactly? Does bigger mean better? The PPI on 5+ in. display have reached the laws of diminishing returns as the human eye cannot differentiate between (S5) 432ppi & (5s) 326ppi on such small displays.

                                Per GSMArena's article:

"The most expensive component in the Galaxy S5 is its 5.1" full HD Super AMOLED display. It costs $63."

So, to play Devil's advocate here. Since the iPhone costs $199 to build & if it were to use the exact same display as the Galaxy S5, the iPhone would cost $263 for the iPhone, costing $7 more than the S5. But you would get the premium build with metal.

That would be worth it in my opinion.

Actually the Galaxy range of phones have LED screens and not LCD,this is the reason they easily outshine Apple devices.Screens that make their own light against screens that need to have light shone through them will always be a winner for me.

AnonD-212255, 18 Apr 2014Wow. It must be rough being such a battery Nazi. I don't ... moreAgain, we use our smartphones differently. My job requires I'm on the move when I need to. I'm not always back in the office most of the time. All I need is my Note 3 to take notes in meetings to relay back to the office. I instruct contractors what is needed in site by drawing them what is needed and email them straight using my phone.

That 8 hours example was while I was finishing a painting on my sketchbook while looking at and for picture references and listening to internet radio. I was at a cafe. No wires plugged in, and I was using Bluetooth earpieces.

And I consume more than 2GB of data daily, mostly from torrents. That's why I bother to use a memory expansion too. An iPhone would only last terribly short with such usage. Again, I have my mobile wireless as it should with all that heavy usage.

You called me a battery Nazi? Haha, best compliment I've ever had! My Stormtroopers are logic and facts.

Reviewers, & Samsung fans were let down when Samsung announced the S5 with yet again, a plastic body. I actually do agree with you that it isn't a beauty contest, & a phone's primary function is being a phone, but in this day & age, the SW portion is all but perfected.

Samsung has the capability, (or do they?) to make a metal device. They simply chose not to. People everywhere were bashing Apple when the iPhone 5s was released, citing that it was the same device, but yet Samsung gets a pass? Hardly seems fair.

                                        From Daily Tech:

"For those hoping for a metal body this time around (a la the iPhone 5S or HTC One), you’ll again be disappointed."

                                        From Android Police:

"the GS5's overall design probably won't win it any new fans."

                                        From CNet:

"Some Samsung Galaxy fans were hoping the S5 would get a swanky aluminum body befitting its flagship status. It didn't happen".

The operative word is FLAGSHIP. It should be your top end mobile, not get lost in the crowd of all the other company's devices.

If the new S5 is roughly $700.00 for all plastic. How much would an aluminum clad device sell for? $850.00+?
