There is so much hatred towards the acquisition. But they really needs to understand is that Nokia is making a massive comeback with Microsoft OS. I honestly feel with the 8.1 update and their new range of smartphones they are going head-on with Android and IOS.

Remember that Nokia is from Finland. One of the most technologically advanced nations in the world. Nokia will hit back hard.

So Nokia is dead on phone market. Well, it's a pity MS must kill Nokia to make place for WP. Symbian (anna/belle) and MeeGo was really good/great options.
Elop when he came Nokia still have ~ 30% market share, many people still loves their phones...but if you deliberate lie, intentional stop developing Symbian, kill MeeGo before users/market announce a verdict (many review was good, people who dont miss chance to get it was satisfy, ofc it was new OS...).
Even stock exchange show us how bad was the period of Elop rule and why he burn own platform ?

Nobody else will make a decision to choose Windows Phone as the only OS at the time. Maybe as a 2nd/3rd if MS give license for free but not now, formerly in 2009-2010. Lack of the basic functions, zero functionality, strange solution like Zune...Microsoft wanna be like Apple, iOS and iTunes ? Ballmer has an obsession about Apple, MS/Ballmer alawys response too late and never listen users.
It's really sad that we lose such a great company on phone market ( bad management decisions) - who else can compete with the biggest players like Apple or Samsung ? Microsoft ? They arent phone manufacturers, anyone remember Microsoft Zune (iPod), MSN Smart Watch, Kin and many others - MS have many failures in hardware so thye decided to buy whole company - Nokia..for all customers is bad day, better if Nokia will be independent company, make phones with Android and Widnows Phone or WP and Symbian or even WP, Symbian and MeeGo etc.
iOS and WP is proprietary, no freedom of choice for user, lawful owner know better everything in 101%, "user are stupid" - we must lead them by the hand, Android it may go the wrong way, people will miss Symbian and MeeGo ;)

Anonymous, 22 Apr 2014Typical fanboy-ism. Why should this merger effect your exp... more*Acquisition rather than *Merger. Also to the person asking if Nokia Android series will continue...this is extremely unlikely as MS are unlikely to aid in sales of that OS and Nokia will not release any more phones branded Nokia as it's been bought!

AnonD-179402, 22 Apr 2014Nokia is finished.... so no imagination from this brand... ... moreThey sold it as they waited too long in the game to try and compete and chose an inferior OS to support their 'come back', which is still making them a loss. Good decision by nokia at this point as they got out whilst stock prices were no too shabby. Well done Nokia for coming all this way seeing as you started with tyre making and alike! But equally shame on you for not keeping up with the market and thinking you are untouchable back in the day.

As of Friday 25th April, 'Nokia' will be rebranded 'Microsoft Mobile'. Doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?

Anyone remembering all those comments here on GSM-Arena that Winphone and Nokia was destined to rule the Smartphone market?

Well the last of that mighty power is vanishing to dust right now.

I starting to get a little tired of Android and waiting for the first Tizen smartphone to be released.

Elop is the stupidest man I've ever seen in my life... why not going with Android? Why choosing WP? Which btw, I do love it... but clearly he sold NOKIA, he killed an incredible and historical brand... what if Nokia had gone Android? Can you imagine all the amazing sales? The incredible great sales? ... yes, probably the USA wouldn't have been their #1 market, but India, Asia and other places would've gone bananas with them... I am sad, NOKIA is dead!!! microsoft will kill this name, they'll brand it as Microsoft Mobile which is so stupid and I don't like it... they should've called it XBOX PHONE or whatever, but having MSFT on a name, no thanks :(
