This is just confirming what everybody knows – iPhone is the present and the future. The reason for that is because unlike some Nokia phones which come out just to be forgotten after six months, the iPhone is a device which will serve you for years after it is release. Thanks to Apple and the ApStore our iPhone is always up to date, exciting and getting regular updates.

No wander people are abandoning Nokia big time!

iPhone sweeps IGF's Mobile Games Awards

            By Prince McLean
            Published: 05:25 PM EST

Apple's iPhone platform dominated the finalist entries and the prize winners of mobile game awards at the annual Independent Games Festival.

The eleventh annual IGF, held in conjunction with the Game Developers Conference 2009 in San Francisco, has focused new attention on the iPhone as the platform of choice for independent mobile game developers, with nearly every category win being awarded to App Store titles for the iPhone and iPod touch.

This is the second year the IGF has awarded mobile games. In addition to Java and Flash Lite titles for mobile phones, finalists also included titles for the Nintendo DS and Sony PlayStation Portable. Full details on all of the finalists in the Mobile awards are listed on the IGF's finalist and winners site. Winners were announced yesterday and will be presented along with IGF's console and desktop awards today.

IGF Best Mobile Game, Achievement in Art

Subatomic Studios' Fieldrunners, a $2.99 tower defense game, was awarded both Best Mobile Game and Achievement in Art awards.

Fieldrunner beat out Sykhronics Entertainment's Smiles and Mobigame's Edge, two other iPhone finalists for Best Mobile Game, as well as Wardive for the Nintendo DS and Cubic Republic for the Flash Lite platform.

The two other finalists for the Achievement in Art award were also iPhone titles: Igloo Games' Dizzy Bee and Song New Creative's Ruben & Lullaby.

            Best iPhone Game, Audio Achievement

Zen Bound's Secret Exit won the $10,000 prize Best iPhone Game as presented by ngmoco, in addition to the Audio Achievement award. Developed exclusively for the iPhone, the $4.99 title is a unique puzzle game.

The other finalists for Best iPhone Game were Igloo Games' Dizzy Bee, Mobigame's Edge, Subatomic Studios' Fieldrunners, and The Iconfactory's Frenzic.

The other two finalists for Audio Achievement were also iPhone games, Studio Radiolaris' Radio Flare and Mobigame's Edge.

            Innovation in Mobile Game Design

Hassey Enterprises' Galcon, a $2.99 action strategy game, was awarded Innovation in Mobile Game Design.

The other finalists for Innovation in Mobile Game Design were Wardive for the Nintendo DS and Steph Thirion's Eliss for iPhone.

            Technical Achievement

Firemint's not yet released Real Racing title for the iPhone beat out Football Tycoon for Java and Wardive for Nintendo DS.

            Next Great Mobile Game

The only award not presented to an iPhone game was in the category for The Next Great Mobile Game, Presented by NVIDIA, which was won by Reflection for the Nintendo DS, created by Team Reflection of the University of Southern California.

Other finalists in this category were VillaVanilla's yet to be released Depict for the iPhone, FastFoot Challenge for J2ME, Rhythm of War for the Sony PSP, and Picopoke for "photo/Internet-capable Mobile Handsets."

It did sell over 18mil. You're the one who's bringing in illogical rationale, not I. You're done? You shouldn't even be here in the first place, lol.

We're not messing with anyone here. We simply just have a choice that no big company can take away from us. BTW, Apple Inc is wealthier than Nokia =) So now you say that Nokia is not in the spec race and has the freedom to release devices whatever and whenever they want. And you want us to respect that right? Then maybe you should learn to respect other companies as well as to what features they want to put in their devices and let them be.

The iphone is here to stay and it's just getting better and better, so deal with it.

Fred, 26 Mar 2009bla bla bla bla.. nonsense and fabricated stories about bos... moreThat 52% figure is based on phones browsing WAP sites, the iPhone has a full HTML browser so does not need to access WAP sites.

The iPhone has a 66% share of mobile browsers accessing full websites.

If you are going to attempt to mislead people using statistics maybe you should check them first to see what they mean.

Don't mess with a company that alone has more shares of the market then all you smalltimers put together. If u haven't notice, Nokia has never been a part of some specs race or "has" to release new models at the Global show every year just for the sake of it, they do thing their way and release whatever they want and whenever they feel like it, be high season or low season. Their releases has always been on their own terms, and it will always be that way, Nokia has to much of the market to even care about competition.

Yeah, Nokia is sweeping awards, that is why they're losing sales and laying off thousands of their employees, LOL.

I think to say that the Nokia phone, or any phone for that matter, has a major role in the government's decision making and running the country is an over the top statement, or even, a crazy thing to say. Governent officials take whatever device or equipment is given to them. They have personal phones and devices as well that may be different from what the White House gave them. Your reasoning is really pointless. US troops have specialized devices that they use. They do not use the N95, lol. Your desperation is really getting to you, lol. The US troops when at war do not drive their shiny BMW's and Mustangs. They drive their Bimmers and Mustangs when they're off duty. My point is again, government officials and the US troops do not use devices with the same specs and features as mass produced devices, so for you to use them as an example is utterly silly, lol.

US law enforcement has special Crown Victoria automobiles, I guess I should dump my BMW for a Crown Victoria now, lol. The iphone globally leads as the #1 smartphone, who cares what phone government officials use. And you said it yourself, "tailor made Nokia phones", meaning, it's been modified specifically for government use and does not share the same features and specs as the mass produced Nokia phones. I work for the government, and we do have top of the line tailor made PC's, but guess what, it does not even have solitaire, lol. So yes, your logic is messed up. Apple did not produce the iphone to target the White House as their market, lol, but I'm sure Apple can produce a tailor made iphone for the White House if they need to. With the 18million iphones sold, I am certain that some of them are politicians, but who cares? Since when did politicians become the barometer of what the best smartphone is. A lot of them don't even know how to create a new contact on their phones and have their assistants do it for them, lol. Government officials usually have multiple phones. One for official use, and another one for personal use, and the other one most likely is an iphone =)

I know, because my boss has a Blackberry given to him for office use, but his personal phone is an iphone =)

And why do wanna drag Blackberry into this anyway? Because iPhones are as easy to jailbreak as taking a crap. Apples beef is with RIM and their Blackberry, this has nothing to do with Nokias smartphones that sweep up award after award, cause both Apple and Blackberry are smalltime hustlers compared to Nokia in the smartphone market. Ask your own goverment, they run the country, communicate, make decisions and control your ass with Nokia smartphones. Alot of US troops were actually given Nokia N-seris phones in Afghanistan and Iraq for Nokias accurate individual geo tagging and for unprepared photo shots and pics of events. Don't even compare Nokia to Apple in the cell phone department, wake up and smell the coffee.

This is Apples beef, not Nokias, Nokia don't care for u smalltimers.

The phone is an open shell, and if you don't know how to use these features then you don't need to own one. If you don't know how to change the software to unlock the things the phone can do. The phone is not for you.

You have absolutely no idea at the range of applications available on the App store to suit everyone.

For enterprise use large companies can use their own version of an App store to roll out custom software created using the sdk.
