Anonymous, 19 May 2014By the way, Apple has sued Motorola and HTC for the same pa... moreThat was what Apple was awarded for THIS trial.
Previously, on November 21, 2013 the jury awarded a new figure of $290 million, which was amended from the previously awarded $1 Billion.
On May 2, 2014, Samsung was instructed to pay $119.6 million to Apple for smartphone patent violations.
So all in all, that is $339.6 million (less $158,400) that was awarded to Apple, & unless you have some solid information that Apple spent OVER $340 million on legal fees & preparation, other than an , (LMAO) assistant professor at Santa Clara University School of Law....I think it's safe to assume that Apple felt vindicated.
Even an attorney for Samsung stated:
"This is a case not where we're disputing that the 13 phones contain some elements of Apple's property,"
No wonder Samsung has to churn out worthless device after device, after device & only construct devices with plastic.
They owe Apple a ton of freakin' cash.

"Samsung features that Apple says infringe are items that are a part of Android, Google's mobile operating system that powers Samsung's devices. All patents except one, called "slide to unlock," are built into Android."

"However, Apple probably spent nearly as much loot waging the case against Samsung, which runs on Google software, than it was ultimately awarded by the courts."

A better question is: Was the $4.5B Nortel Patent Conspiracy between Apple and Microsoft worth it?

You don't see any similarities between "MacBook" & "ChromeBook"??
That would be like Microsoft naming the XBox "StationPlay"

Anonymous, 18 May 20144 of the 5 patents Apple sued for were android features not... more-The "slide-to-unlock" feature in which you unlock your touch-screen phone by sliding your finger across the screen.
-Searching multiple sources of information at once, which is something that Apple's Siri does when it's trying to provide information to you
-Detecting phone numbers in emails so you can just tap the number to call someone.
-A built-in spell-check that suggests alternatives when you misspell something.
Admittedly, these are features of Android as well, but with the infringement of design patents, Apple thought felt parts of TouchWiz were too close to their version & infringed as well.
Apparently, so did the jury. That's seems odd that all jury members would side with Apple if no infringement took place.
Albeit unlikely, even if Samsung does win the appeal, the damage is done.

The only one that wasn't was slide to unlock. It isn't about the money, Apple hopes to receive bans....which they won't. If it is about guilt, guess what, they were also found guilty. In short, Samsung has yet to, and likely will never pay Apple a dime after appeals.

ha ha for once apple being sued. at least it gives Samsung a breather, from being sued for something apple mainly copied anyway. what a joke. why not put resources into making amazing phones rather sueing people for petty so called infringements.

What do you have again... moreWhy would it be different? You think no one else would have innovated. Apple has copied many many other ideas and technologies. Many of them un-patented ideas that Apple got patented and called their own. Innovation....sure
A small company called Neonode came up with the idea of slide to unlock. Apple went and patented it and called it their own innovation.
