Orange UK to heat up the summer with the new LG GC900 Viewty 2

9 April, 2009
You’ve already seen the LG GC900 in our MWC 2009 coverage hung behind glass without a word on specs details. Dubbed as LG Viewty 2, this 8 megapixel fella is obviously set to arrive in Orange UK network...

Excuse me, but some people are talking about the Xenon flash... All I can see in this picture is a led flash. Where is the xenon one? Is it hidden or what?

Common dude gsmarena is calling "iphone highly anticipated" I guess you must have drink to much bear's for the rest of weekend, and that's not fear, you are pricing lowest technology ass a highest in standards, but anyway i made guess that from gsmarena they made jock with it, right...!

Exciting. This would be a head to head battle between this phone, the Omnia HD, the N97 and the iPhone 2009. I like the way they made mention of the iphone as the "highly anticipated" device for obvious reasons. The iphone of course will have its own spotlight, while the other 3 can share the other one =)

The iphone would still rule. And it does not even need an 8mp camera. Word is that the next gen iphone will have a 3.2mp front camera and a 5mp camera in the back with xenon flash, sporting a camera software with face detection and auto-focus and an array of preset functions such as night, outdoor/indoor, fireworks, beach, etc, and will have ISO settings as well and other effects like sepia, b & W, animated, etc. The iphone's display will also be upgraded to OLED and the casing will be aluminum with chrome around the display. It would also have HD radio. Iphone will still rule =)

Anonymous, 09 Apr 2009I wonder why Symbian based phones can't match the higher sc... moreUntil Symbian is capped at 360x640 I'll never consider a phone with it. I currently have the HTC Touch HD with 480x800, which is more than twice of that.

I've heard of Japanese phones with 480x1024... that's what 5800, N97 and i8910 HD should have come with to truly be ahead of the competition.

I wonder if those rumors still come from the picture taken on MWC 09 which said

                MEMORY CARD
                support
                up to 32gb

                not build-in memory.

I'll be very happy to see 32gb memory in a photo-phone, amount of flash memory that not every mp3 player can afford. But I'm afraid the price will reach for the stars.

Anyways I'll be skipping this line of LG phones for a very simple reason - S-class UI = proprietary OS. I want SYMBIAN! But will go with WinMo as well if its well-built or Android as long as its Tegra and $100 ;)
I want editing office docs and tables on my phone with a huge detailed screen. I don't want "nice UI" for $500+.

I never believed I'd say this but a screen with loads of pixels isn't a buying factor for me. It was till they all got their pixel-packed screens. Now I want symbian/winmo/android with Tegra in it for $100-300. I don't want super-expensive phone toys no more. Hope you'll agree with me and start saving up money so you can buy yourself an apartment.

It's called making money to pay the subsidised cost you'll get the handset for.

→N97←, 09 Apr 2009Symbian has a scalable UI it can be made any resolution.. So why do the N97, 5800 and Samsung Omnia HD only have 360x640 screens?

Samsung has higher resolutions on their other phones eg the WinMo based Omnia.

I suspect Symbian is restricted to VGA which was what was around when it first came out.

360x640 is VGA with strips torn off to make it widescreen.

LG are really pushing ahead and producing some great mobiles... I decided not to upgrade and wait until june when all the great mobiles are expected to release.

I wonder why Symbian based phones can't match the higher screen resolution of phones like this and the arena?

It must be a limitation of Symbian.
