You still have to open each app's page to see its permissions...
Fortunately there is the Safe Play app.

All this change does is make using the Play Store and the apps within it less secure. First, Google stopped separating the apps that require new permissions from those that don't in the updates section, to help the users keep track of which apps are trying to increase their foothold on our devices. Now, you don't even get a warning anymore when updating an app if it's increasing its permissions. The only way to know is to go through the extra step of scrolling down and clicking the permissions link.

It's as if Google is intentionally trying to sabotage the security of Android users. Considering their history of violating their users' privacy, and the fact they themselves frequently add new permissions without explaining them, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that's exactly what they're doing. Google has shown over and over they don't care about their users, what they need or want, or their privacy. All they care about is money. And while they keep making changes like this that only worsen the user experience and hinder security, there are still multiple issues with the Play Store which have existed anywhere from months to years that are not being dealt with.

Yet all the online "media" sites can do nothing but continue to proclaim how great Google is and how wonderful this new change is, completely neglecting the users and their privacy and security. They're supposed to be reporting for and in the interest of the users, who are their audience, not Google, etc. It makes me wonder if Google has bought them all off, since they act more like an advertisement than a news source.

Checked FB messenger and it wanted mic and camera usage without notification. Checked today and the permissions are brief and say nothing of the sort. So have they taken away those clauses? Are they printed elsewhere? We have a right to know. I love technology but there's only so much humanity can compromise. Also in this day and age more and more people are I.T literate, it didn't need "simplifying".

This is terrible, and it doesn't simplify, it mistifies. Previously it was instantly obvious if an app wanted more permissions on an upgrade they were all marked green and "NEW". Now you need a masters degree to see what extra privacy is being stepped on.This is so google can keep applying new permission without it appearing they have, many people would not upgrade to the new maps version when they google asked for freedom to keep toggleing the wifi on and off, when your driving its a wast of battery and whatever else, and when your at home you're not navigating and you turn your own home wifi on. With maps running at startup its checking every wifi you are co.ing into contact with and that's non of thier business and of zero benefit to me. People could immediately see this new permission before , it was completely obvious, but now it doesn't register as new because something in a similar grouping as they see it is already being used. There could be nothing simpler than the system they are removing, I mean what part of the word new don't we understand, but with this they can now slide in New permissions without anyone clearly simply being made aware. What a mess now to work out if a new permission is asked for, just try it
