We are continuing our dreary Q1 results coverage and this time it's Sony Ericsson. The company has just announced all the Q1 details and they are quite bleak at first sight...

Just release w995 features (plus touchscreen maybe) in many models with different mega pixel camera and off course more affordable X1 adn more affordable Idou. It's your last hope SE and I hate product by Sagem like W302, S302, F305, W395..

It was thick, bulky but ... moreHey buddy you really hate P1i? i tooo have have the same and i love it. you can mod it to the ultimate. you can have flash light app (not to be confused with flash lite. though there is news of flash lite mod also), camera mod, walkman 3 mod, menu mod, gdesk, wi-fi (with few complaints :D), pretty decent keypad.
where did it go wrong for you? it freezes at times for me where i'm unable to close a certain application or go to standby screen. maybe you got better phone than this :)

Because they are too stingy to put autofocus in every type.. and mega bass in old types like k800. I think autofocus and mega bass should be a standard in every mid level. But now customers have looked to other cool smartphone like iPhone, BlackBerry and other full touchscreen models. SE is too late to fulfil our wish. Smartphone is a must.. we need more touchscreen smartphone with autofocus camera and mega bass or say goodybey to SE

Since I can remembered SonyEricsson, most of their flagship models, initially are FULL with TROUBLES. Especially SOFTWARE troubles. I am still amazed that many people are still buying SonyEricsson new models.

Even with less problematic ones, like XPERIA, they were 1 year late and actually someone else built it for them (see HTC).

There is NO EXCITEMENT coming from SonyEricsson brand.....and this is happening too long. I hope the new models will bring out a new and fresh air.

Same applies to Nokia flagship models........apparently the American companies (Apple with iPhones, Microsoft with Windowns, Blackberry, Google) are scoring heavily on this area.

Nokia makes a $122 mill profit and gets hammered. SE makes a 358 mill LOSS anf the SE fan boys go quiet. The idou is overrated junk. Later SE.

You write a lot of crap!!!
There's nothing wrong with SE's design nor the interface. In fact, to date, SE's interface is better than any of the 'big' four. Their two problems have been build and software quality.

Also, everybody is suffering. If Nokia drops by so much in percentages then you can't expect a smaller competitor like SE to fare much better. I have a feeling only Samsung is going to fare better than all the other manufacturers (Apple also, but I don't consider them much since they are limited to 1 phone but yeah they're looking good) Sure, SE's losses could've been minimal had they realised two and a half years ago when they were outperforming all manufacturers in sales per shipment that when you are on top you don't bask in glory and forget innovation.

Another thing some forget or don't know is that SE were making losses for three (3) years after the joint venture but stuck it out and came good so it's nothing new to them.

They said they are not quitting the cellphone market so it is up to them to get themselves out of this mess. If they believed they couldn't make it then they would've folded already.

poor sony ericsson. i dun think these plans will work until they bring any changes to desgin of their phones and change the interface. and yes their cybershot series turned out to be rubbish compared to camera performance of samsung mobile.

I had the opportunity to use the p900 and m600 smartphones and found they were a delight. I wanted to purchase the G900 but the model was pulled for reasons unknown to me (no support via the sony websites) shortly after its official release. Sony need to make a greater range of smartphones, they have put all their eggs in the x1 market. All they seem to release these days is walkman range phones that offer no "smart" capabilities. We probably won't see the Idou this year..
