Wow, Google changed the shapes of the back, home, and recents keys, such an amazing innovation.

I really feel like Google turned a corner with KitKat and the new full web verison of Google Maps, where their designs are getting worse.

Partly, they're just changing things for the sake of change. They want look "new" and "different," even when it serves no useful purpose and nothing is new. I hate that kind of change. It just makes you relearn an interface for no reaspn.

But they're also changing things to make everything more and more interlinked with the cloud and their various services. They sell this as convenience, but it often doesn't work that well and is just an excuse for them to constantly pop all kinds of information in front of you that you don't want. And they do that purely as part of their marketing/advertising schemes. It's cluttered and like a insidious return of the popup ad, in the form of user interface elements.

Sometimes you need to just admit that a design has evolved to a good point and polish it from there, not remake it constantly. Most of what has happened after Jelly Bean has been useless to me and much more about Google's business model, than about features and interface elements that users actually want.

Apple's doing the same thing now, starting with iOS 7. Change for the sake of change. Change to lock you more into their ecosystem, not because it's the best or useful. Blech. The major smartphone platforms may have peaked. Now they're just going to suck us dry.

Wow Just search for new interface on XDA. That's Minimal and amazing. I love the new interface of android L. Can't wait for update. I know that Samsung users with google play edition would die of Battery drain with these new UI colors.
Using art, Features on 64bit architecture, new interface and much more...!

AnonD-92238, 25 Jun 2014Today they released previews for nexus 5&7 with a note ... moreI seriously doubt you have much grasp of reading the fine print. 18 month support period applies to all Nexus devices. There are more devices in the GPE side of things those are devices too supported by Google.

Those abstract shapes for Android buttons are horrible and unintuitive.

[deleted post]Wonder why Android fanboys are spending more time dragging Apple fans into this (I personally don't see that many) instead of telling us what was great about the I/O presentation.

Oh right, when things suck, just insult others. Don't be sour grapes, that was a shit presentation and you know it.

Being cynical, if this new version is a big crowd puller then they will want to use it to sell more recent devices than help along users with older devices. It's just harsh greedy reality of good money making strategies.

[deleted post]You don't need to be any kind of troll. Even a lot of Android fans were a little underwhelmed by the whole thing.

When you have to actually bring out statistics like how many selfies were taken, you know that there isn't a lot of content.

                            Android fans were expecting more.

Very dissapointed... It only has features useful only to stock Android +the battery and Art ones...seems devices from all other OEMs aren't even worth the hassle to update.... It even has less than iOS updates, for that matter even for stock
