Yes windows phone is buttery smooth.. But it also does nothing compared to android.. WP with 512mb ram is smooth but severely restricted in apps compatibility. Android with 512mb ram can install anything although it will cause some lags.. Functionality above smoothness.. This Lumia Droid is the start of WP demise.. Soon WP will be retired without ever reaching WP9..

At last! Microsoft take serious business with Android!
Which only means one thing: Visual Studio for Android on the way!
        Yay! *cheers*

You know you just made his point for him. The Expedia is a high end phone w a 2.x+ processor and a gig of ram so yes it runs well but if you look at a phone like the Droid4 which a friend of mine has it runs shitty as hell. My 520 on the other hand while not a lot of features (and maybe can't handle high end games) runs the OS and all my apps flawlessly.

Services such as Bing, Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote
And that ugly User Interface, is exactly the reason why Microsoft WinPhone failed. Now they bring it all, to "their" Android and hopes for success, that's just stupidity at large...

As a company which main products are OS:es like Windows, WinCE, WinMobile Winphone and other, goes for a freeware OS like AOSP to be able to sell phones = Microsoft simply hammering down the last nail in the Winphone coffin.

By the way Nokia is only involved as a brand name Microsoft bought the right to use the Nokia brand on for awhile, it's all Microsoft scheming for to get a foothold on the phone market and the money.

Perhaps soon Microsoft must be scheming for their survival...

everyone who says that android is lagless. Yes if you have quadcore 1.5 GHz processor and at least 1GB of RAM. WP works without lags with 1.0 GHz and 512 MB of RAM.
Try for example HTC 8S and HTC desire X. 8S is smoother although it has only 512MB of RAM (Desire X has 768MB.
If you don't believe me try both and you will see it.
WP has lack of apps? Yes this was true 18 months ago...
And for finish tell me if Desire X will get new update Android L, because 8S will get WP 8.1?
Those are just facts without bullsh**t.

It will be running AOSP that part are not in Googles Control.
They have Control over the Open Handset Alliance.

I guess they will sell this in markets where Google Play are not so good as in the western World.
I think to buy/sell apps for developers and customers etc. Without a credit card.

Nokia did a good work with Ovi store with that, and I Think they have continue with it in the Nokia X store:

Carol, 07 Jul 2014Use your high end more then 3 months installing and playing... moreYou're talking nonsense. I owned iPhones,WP Phones and Android phones...first android was HTC Sensation...a dissapointment...coming from iPhone 3GS...then i went with Lumia 800...dissapointed again (lack of apps and not getting any update past 7.8)...then i had a Galaxy Nexus...never experienced one second of lag in 1 year of constant use and formatted it once due to a rooting mistake i made. Got the S3 afterwards...a beauty and a marvel of technology...lag? Yes,when playing Injustice:Gods Among Us while alt+tabbing to use social media apps (viber, watsapp, etc). Now,i'm writing from a LG G2...i think its pointless to say that its not only blazing fast but also 100% reliable;-). Stop bashing android just because you cant afford higher-end Android powered phones.

They will probably refine the X line up and run android version with ARt. What lumia needs is more windows app other than messaging and social networking. As a medic, dearth of medical apps is the major barrier between me and windows phone.

If this had a proper Google certified Android (with Google services), this would be the first Lumia I could actually use longer than 15 minutes.

Maybe like the X it'll be the worst of both worlds. Android with no Google apps and a Windows phone UI.
