Discounts a few months after a phone is released is quite common but for pre-release it's unheard of.

However, for some functions such as video playback, such as HD playback, processor power is important. But in general your assessment is correct. Instead people should look at memory. Not storage but RAM. Its the single most important spec other than processor for a multi tasking phone. Between 600MHz and 128MB RAM and 500MHz and 256MB RAM, I'll take the latter. Double the RAM means more stable multi tasking.

This is Nokia's second Symbian Touch screen phone. Second. That's how quick Nokia has been releasing touchscreen phones. The N97 is nice but seems a little too late. Also everyone from Samsung and Sony Ericsson seemed to have more powerful Symbian Touch offering in the pipeline. Maybe Nokia should have made this an E series phone. The direct successor to E90 rather than a N series.

putting a 3 megapixel camera, a software update and an additional moto in a 3 year old design phone doesn't make it a "new phone".
what apple does is still makes the same crap with nothing new. its very sad that people think apple will release a new "iphone" but what will they do is a little photoshop work like they do in their website to brainwash the herd of sheep

N97 is already old in term of specs! Same old CPU from the first N95 in 2006! I have a N82 right now, and i won't spend one penny on a slow touchscreen phone!
Will buy Samsung Omnia HD for the same price, you get 3 times more speed and features!
