Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 gets Android 4.4 KitKat

Hi All,
I plan to upgrade my Grand 2 from 4.3 to Kitkat. When I connect via KIES 3 it says a new firmware is available and the size is 990 MB (seriosuly!?) .
Please let me know if I can proceed with this update.
Also, will my apps and data be preserved after the update or everything will be wiped out.

I had the same problem...my phone started to restart 5 to 6 times a day and a blue screen appeared often... i tried rooting my device and flashing my rom...then my mobile got corrupted..i gav it to service center and they changed my mobile's motherboard wich costs 7000...then they gav bac my mobile.. i thought it vil b android 4.3 but it was updated to android 4.4..i asked why ?? They said v vil update mobile's software and then oly v vil give it to the customer.. then they said if there is any problem,v can go and meet them...now im using android 4.4 after my mobile got repaired there was no restaring anymore and no blue screen appeared..but gaming still lags...

i cant transfer anyfile like image songs etc etc from phone memory to ext, memory..the problem is seeing after my phone get 4.4.2 plz help

When I try to update my device then I get notified that my device is modified and the software update is not avaliable.

I am facing problem, abt handsfree ..some r working on my phone..some r nt..
Also facing battery back up..n charging..
Also hve a display pb..i hve been told dt in my phone display nd touchpad r nt functioning prply..frm service centre..
I would not suggest any one fr ds phone...
