Those who only have a budget for a Grand 2 or something at that range might consider the MI3 coz Xiaomi has got the powerful specs under the hood like the one on the Note 3 and its other rivals in its class. Here in the Philippines the MI3 is even cheaper than the Grand 2! But there could also be a chance that if a buyer isn't that picky with the brand, they might also choose the MI3 over some top of the line models like the GS5, Xperia Z2, G3 and others coz what they'll be paying for is a nice looking device with almost the same power.

Mi3 is for those considering to get Grand 2 and other midrange price phone. FYI, I owned a mobile phone store, and I can tell you Note3 sales have not been affected at all. However, sales for S5 ain't good enough.

One advice for Xiaomi.
In order to stay top and overtake other makers such as Sony Xperia family & HTC One family, you must have premium design but at afforable price like 20%~30% cheaper. The body must be made of metal such as Aluminum 6061-T6, magnesium or scandium.
About product variation, I guess Sony & HTC both have the best configuration.
Xiaomi can learn from them:
Category I: Company Flagship smartphone:
Xiaomi: Mi3 (Mi4 soon)
Sony: Xperia Z3
HTC: One (M8)
Category II:Mid-range smartphone
Xiaomi: ???
Sony: Xperia T3
HTC: Desire 616
Category III: Company Flagship Phablet:
Xiaomi: Redmi
Sony: Xperia Xperia Z2 Ultra
HTC: One Max
Category IV:Mid-range Phablet
Xiaomi: ???
Sony: Xperia T2 Ultra
HTC: Desire 816
Lastly Xiaomi must improve the User Interface (UI) to be more international style rather it smells Chinese.

hey gsmarena guys your wrong this green colour variant has different specifications...This version of the Mi 3 will be the China Mobile (16GB) edition which uses the Nvidia Tegra 4 processor. It sports a 5-inch 1080p screen and a 2mp/13mp camera. It has 2GB RAM and a 3050mAh battery.

That is also why you'll be stuck to MIUI instead of being able to chose from other ROMs, such as the much more mature Cyanogenmod.
That is also why Xiaomi is, in every sense, the Apple of China.
