The only $200 devices that actually are usable for SMARTPHONE tasks are WP and the best performing of them all is BB Z3 which outperforms most Android upper midrange phones in web browser performance.

We can no longer compare Android with iOS, Android marketshares has to be separated into "usable devices" and "laggy little things" that barely works for Facebook and even then only for the most patient among us and only when no other apps are running. We have to start talking about the same thing, a $100 MicroMax is NOT a competitor even to iPhone 4s.

AdamBoy64, 15 Aug 2014Thanks for clearing that up, FG.No problem, Adam.

You'll notice that GSMArena deleted my reply that you originally quoted. They also deleted the question from Anonymous (Encoded Location: 4$vE). He/she asked, "What happen to the cheap Android phone discussion?" or something to that effect. I answered it, you quoted me, now all deleted.

I think windows phone is getting better but I guess the new Nokia lineup was not as strong as last years. I personally don't see the Lumia 930 as a groundbreaking phone which its predecessor was neither on the technical side nor on the design side the selection of colors has been narrowed down. while the Lumia 630 is not as beautiful looking as the 620, it even misses the front facing camera, the flash and camera shutter. Even the cheaper 530 lost it in similar ways and its 4gb storage is a shame. So I don't see any hits in their lineup. The designs one desires from nokia is becoming somewhat abstract. Again it might be the new shift into Microsoft ownership so things might still be taking of and we might eventually see the good phones return to the lineup which I hope happens sooner than later

That's what happens when you buy a company like Nokia and tie them down to windows phone.
People would have bought Lumias but once Microsoft bought nokia and restricted them, their game was over too. I think Microsoft slayed the goose that laid the golden eggs.
WP is no longer an alternative to consider, it is an alternative to avoid.

You're right, most of the important apps were there, but usually a few versions behind iOS and Android in features and often did not work as well as Android or iOS. Also, there was a good chance that if a popular new app came along that lots of people recommended, WP would not have it yet, if ever (Clash of Clans is a good example).

Wow Android...just wow! Google really hit it out of the park! And it's only getting better.

I hardly find that I am missing more than a couple of good and useful apps. I have used iOS and Android extensively and then moved to WP. Absolutely love the OS.
It is disappointing to see the slow pace in catching up. It has a lot to do with people like you spreading bad publicity around by saying it lacks apps and features.

IDC should start using stats specific too manufacturer. For example, it will be like

                                    Samsung xxx%
