Samsung enter the 12 megapixel competition with Pixon12

01 June, 2009
Samsung have long been rumored to have a 12 megapixel cameraphone in the works. Well, now it sees daylight for the first time - meet the Pixon12 - the first 12MP cameraphone to hit the market, scheduled for...

Pixon12 is missing an OS, but who cares? If you want a good OS, u might as well buy a laptop or netbook. Even iphone/ipod touch has a good OS. Pixon 12 is an alternative choice for those who dont want to buy expensive smartphone, but still wants to have a good camera. And i bet Satio is expensive. VERY expensive!

Good Job Samsung. Samsung brings high quality cam phones. For example the INNOV8. The photo qualities are unmatchable. Very low noise and highly detailed in comparison with the Nokia N-series and Sony Ericsson C905. You can see it on gsmarena by comparing the photos.

            Happy to see the improvements:

            1. It's 12mp. And it's going to be the first 12mp in the "market" not on the paper like idou/satio. But rather than the pixel count what Samsung actually improved here is the image saving time for next shot. GSMarena somehow missed to report that.
            2. It comes with xenon. So no more complain about led.
            3. It sports 28mm wide angel too. So N86 can't be the only one.
            4. It comes with wiFi.
Only thing missing is the OS. I'm sure there is more to come.
            Cheers!!

i think it is not really 12mp. maybe most of you dont know but sometimes they make increase the mp in phones by softwares loaded in phones. i believe this is one of them . classic samsung competition plan without any quality ans stlye but same specs with lower price.
              SE rules...

It's so ignorant from consumers that all they want is megapizels and not useability

It is good that Samsung responds to the cosumers needs. In my opinion, all their high range phones should have Wi-Fi.

Unfortunately. S8300 does not have Wi-Fi.

Although Pixon12 has great features and AMOLED, the screen size could have been much larger.

Looks cool, but I am more then happy with my i8910 :) It's everything I need. and why you need a 12 megapixal cam phone is another thing. why not stick to 8 to 9 mega pixals and improve on matching what dedicated digital camaras already offer......lets not get carried away with megapixals.....it's always the next best thing and the next best thing is not always better.

I mean how nay people out there really took all the advantages that 5 and 8 megapixal phones offer at the moment?

Like I said, my i8910 offers me all I need :)

Who know's what will be on offer when I get my chance to upgrade again...it's the nature of the beast. Always something bigger and apparently better coming soon.
