02 June, 2009
In an attempt to stir things up around the Nokia N97, Nokia have just announced that the device will hit the global market this month in the staggering 75 countries simultaneously. Well, it was about time..

Sad to say, I thought there was a Nokia revival in 08-09 but the release dates are always a tad too late against SE, Samsung and LG... and as I understand in SG, the customer service sucks BIG TIME!!

Time to re-examine your value chain... Nokia is simply too expensive and too inflexible at this time and aren't keeping up w the more nimble footed Asia brands...

GREAT hardware, however, touch symbian is hardly an OS compelling enough to make someone want to rush out and get the phone. There are some cell phones that work so well your life is changed for the better for it....at least in terms of communication and management. With touch symbian it's more of the same. Sure it's stable and sure it works fine, but there's no WOW factor to it like the palm pre for instance. If the nokia n97 were to come with an option to customize the hardware with Android, or have a specially-coded version of android for download on their website for the n97, then that would make the phone a compelling buy. With touch symbian? Please, if I'm going to spend that much money on an unlocked phone (living in the states here) then I'll opt for the palm pre. Sure it's hardware isn't up to scratch, but, it has the wi-fi, a decent camera, and a qwerty keyboard with an INFINITELY more compelling OS. Nokia has to try and do better. Plus, delaying the device for this long doesn't help matters either.

I am a serious Nokia Fan ,but I agree with the concept of pricing as mentioned by lot of ppl ,.it should not be more than 300 USD as you can buy a better laptop for that price. The N97 is a good device by hardware no doubt but the price is tooooo expensive !

Everybody may be excited because this is a phone that actually comes out with everything consumers actually want.

I love how everyone on here seems to have a stone wall opinion on this phone when I gather that maybe 1 or 2 of you have actually made physical contact with an N97! IF THAT.

I like this phone, and I am likely to buy it. But as always if I feel it isn't worth keeping I will sell it on.

Reserve all your judgements until the phone is actually released. Wait for reviews from other people if buying is a risk and for God's sake (this is what bothers me the most) if you want to take amazing pictures or capture HD quality videos then buy a device designed to do it. I believe mobile markets shouldn't progress from 3.2MP cause in all honesty I don't know one person who uses their phone camera often enough.

Now I suggest the younger ones on here should go to bed.
The geeks should go get laid!
And the bone idles "I have nothing better to do" get a job or work!

there is a reason why this is a sub £400 phone, because its lame. screen is awful, keyboard feels like your finger will go through it. battery is ok for a few hours, audio quality is dire.

if nokia rely on this phone, then they are in trouble.

Oh, Nokia... What are you playing at? I have no doubt that this phone will sell incredibly well to the Nokia fans who have probably already had an N80, N73 and N95 or N96. It seems they get hooked on the N Series, despite bemoaning its various failings, waiting for the day that one of them actually lives up to the hype.

But just look at the specs. Sure, they're good, but they're not market leading by any means. I have no doubt the phone will have an oddly high price too, not reflecting its specs at all. And, of course, the obligatory software faults that all N Series phones -always- suffer from.

                              Sigh.

It's just so irritating that phone after phone we can see exactly the same thing happening. Announced too early, over hyped, bad release with plenty of problems.

Here's hoping they at least get the software right for this one.

ravi27, 02 Jun 2009sir,...i too a nokia fan...but lookwise LG..is getting ahea... moreYeah, LG Are looks awesome - no doubts, BUT! But what's inside? I was up to buy Arena till I saw first review. Bad that you can install only Java apps. If there would be a good GPS Maps app. like Tom-Tom or Garmin - I would go for Arena, just because it looks fantastic, despite it has many UI ergonomic problems.
Now I'll stick to 5800, I pass N97 because it has many features I don't need at all! N97 looks superb, I like Nokia style. All people are unique, someone likes a dress, someone a daughter :D But that doesn't mean, that other is garbage :)
