Anonymous, 05 Sep 2014 Samsung has NOTHING to do here. And please stop repeating... moreWhat a bunch of junk. You have as much evidence that the other OEMs have/haven't paid as everyone else. Which is none.

How is this connected to whether or not US wants to control other people's data? The US economy is extremely large and has tons global companies. How can you just group all of them into one big nationalistic group? If they were so nationalistic they would at least start paying their taxes. Another thing, why is giving a Korean company more control over our data any better than an American one? Especially a company with such a terrible reputation as Samsung. Maybe you don't realize it, but you don't have to be an OEM to get consumer data.

There is so much FUD in your comment it's a shame.

Samsung has NOTHING to do here.
And please stop repeating this BS: "The other OEMs probably have paid the patent fee to Nvidia"

              NO, THEY DIDN'T!!!!!!!!
Simply Samsung become very big, and scare the sh...s out of the US companies. And US are scared that Samsung soon might break the US total domination over the ppl's data.

All the Android OEMs as well as Google. Please establish your own "IP War Chest" so we can avoid this nonsense. Nvidia has joined the "I'll Sue" fray as has Microsoft. Microsoft collects more in fees from Linux and Android OEMs, than Xbox, and the Win-Phone's COMBINED profits! Take that away from Microsoft and you profit yourself, and take your hard earned cash out of Microsoft's teeth.
                Now Nvidia too?
                Seems logical to me...

Qualcomm makes the Sanpdragons, Samsung makes no changes to the Mali (ARM) when they use them for Exynos, and Power isn't Samsung' either... I don't understand the logic behind where they are pointing fingers.

ayush, 05 Sep 2014Don't know why i smell apple in this. o_0It could well be .Every time samsung increases thier presence, some thing always just happens to come out of the woodwork, oh did you know the note 4's just been released? Lol. See what most people aren't meant to work out is apple know they cant stop google and they aren't trying, they know that every single person on the planet wont be buying thier phone, other companies sharing 5-10% of the market, the sonies nokias lgees etc its gonna happen big deal, but you see apple sell thier phones on something between snobbery and insecurity to said minded people on one ground alone these people have been led to believe they really have got something unique , the best phone on the market, and for a very short while with little competition it was partly true, the one thing they wont /can't stand is another single brand now being percieved as the best on the market, because that was the wall they had around thier customers and what the customer perceives to be true to them is true .ENTER Samsung. Massive market share quality flagships emense presence now by many percieved to be no 1. You will have noticed that samsung failure and success threads get more attention by intellectual types who seem to have all the facts and figures at thier finger tips some of which drop a few spelling mistakes to appear a little uneducated, its possible apple people dont mind voting with every other lil manufacturer in terms of post or actual voting sometimes in favour of these other lil companies, joining in, just to covertly bring samsung down, the lil ones are no threat apple don't know thier even alive, but the li ones know samsungs alive and so do big a .You dont know whether the smell here is apple or not , you couldnt prove that, no more than they could prove they didnt give the idea to nvidea or that thier pr people dont fill these threads, but if you look at the whieght of comment trying to stop the note 4 being the upgrade choice it so naturally is on all samsung threads it admitedly does beg the question.

                                      here is part ananTech comment

"Ultimately this suit is focused around Samsung, as Samsung is both a device integrator and the manufacturer of the Exynos line of SoCs. Meanwhile because Samsung also uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoCs in a number of products (including the North American editions of many phones), Qualcomm is being collared in to the suit on the basis that they are supplying some of the infringing GPUs.

This suit is not limited to just Qualcomm’s Adreno GPUs however, and also extends to ARM Mali and Imagination PowerVR GPUs as well, as Samsung has used both of those GPU families in their various Exynos designs. Overall NVIDIA believes that the Adreno 200, Adreno 300, and Adreno 400 families all violate NVIDIA’s patents, while the Mali-T628 and the PowerVR SGX (Series 5) are also explicitly named in claims."

Wow, what a timing! Just after Samsung product release and before Apple product release.

Does NVIDIA work for Apple now???
Just like typical Apple PR/propaganda move, it's full of reality distortion.
Why are the suit and media zoning in on Samsung when Qualcomm should be the focus and bigger alleged offender as it produces most of the allegedly violating chips for the smartphone vendors, including Samsung???

As someone said, the media has clearly turned into iMedia.
