Samsung don't license, it just steal and try to get away with it. Anyone doing business with South Korean knows it is very hard to get the last payment after you delivered all the goods because the Korean always find something wrong with it and ask you to change it. Doing all the change would cause more than the last payment so the Korean got away with it.

What i find funny is the Qualcomm Adreno, ARM Mali and Imagination PowerVR graphics architectures, this is not down to Samsungs own brand of GPU's but also others. Well nVidia can go and suck it as their patent is about to expire and they want to cash in before it does. The other funny thing about this is essential standards. So i can see this back firing on nVidia cause it looks like they will have to sue EVERYONE.

Although nVidia created the first GPU it is now a standard and everyone uses it at it's core. Like Sansungs attempt to get money from Apple for the 3G Patents this is going to back fire in nVIDIA's.

Nvidia HQ better be careful, those smart appliances probably have Samsung chips, homicidal fridge on the loose?

AnonD-134497, 05 Sep 2014You sir wrote everything going through my brain +1 Samsung does not care about patents due to their huge income. They control more than electronics. They can probably team up with Qualcomm and get rid of nvidia. Actually Samsung itself can get rid of nvidia and apple together. Don't think Samsung is scared to fight back. They are the king of electronics and richest brand in the world. All hail Samsung!

Other companies did this in the past, making knockoff products based on other brands but they can't get away it any more.
This is another indication that Samsung are not playing fairly. Yet another lawsuit from another company. The evidence is stacking up.

And about Samsung, lets assume I agree that Samsung is clean and other manufacturers drag it into courts for patent disputes but if they were clean, shouldn't they win the argument? I love when a company cannot beat another company with R&D, so they give the "case" to the law department. I only say this, because normally nVidia should have filed a lawsuite against Qualcom only. Or qualcom and all the phonemakers since there are no makers who havent used Andreo gfx chipset. Calling up on Samsung again makes this whole $h1t a made up joke for me.

They might be the world's biggest(note I write biggest not best) smartphone makers but their strategy is somewhat, dirty. That is why they keep getting sued and lost in 95% of cases. We also have Apple who has the biggest pile of profits despite not being bigger makers than Samsung but never seen them getting involved in patent disputes like Samsung.

In Nokia's prime time, they never got into any sort of patent's problems despite of holding most patents. There was Motorola, LG, Sony, HTC but why only Samsung? That argument, "Because they are on the top" is a bit played out by now. Being on the top doesn't mean you always have to be sued by other manufacturers and ironically you lose. That is some fishy stuff right there. If you were clean, you won't even lose in courts and obligated to pay millions of dollars but... What else I can say...

Samsung is the most premium example today as to why you need business ethics.

They have none, and that's why they are constantly sued and why they lose every time. Their reputation is mud amongst other manufacturers.

Samsung makes phones that contains a lot of stuff like GPU, CPU, RAM, Camera, Mic, Antena, Glass, Plastic etc. They can't be professionals or design their own in every department. That will require decades of research and development. You know how big names like Intel, Nvidia etc got their names? They have done researches and spent billions of dollars in their research and development.

Have you seen any manufacturer like Nokia, Apple, Sony, HTC, LG making their own GPUs and CPUs? That is because it's almost impossible to do so while focusing on other things too.

It would be better for the two companies to issue a public apology and state that the GPUs on the SoCs are based on Nvidia's architecture. Nvidia gets more recognition and there's no device bans. The last thing I need is a patent war to get in the way of purchasing a Galaxy Note Edge :3
