Nexus 5 32GB in perfect condition: 85 dollars

could sell it on ebay for way more

And why do you have to choose a carrier? Is the situation in America so bad that almost everyone buys phone on contracts now because Americans are too poor to pay 200-900 dollars off the batt?

LOL, used 64GB iPhone 5S is going for $600+ elsewhere. Guess this is how Moto is going to make money because no one is buying their oversized and overpriced phone.

I think it would be a mistake to get the new Moto X or new Moto G if you have the first generation. The screens are bigger, but the batteries are not. The fact that they are non-replaceable will make that more of a problem. I have a Moto G LTE and will not get the new Moto G. Don't care about the bigger screen with lower resolution. Battery is the same, which with the bigger screen, battery life will take a hit. The only improvement is the front facing speakers. Heck, the new Moto G doesn't have LTE, and my current one does. Also, the Trade-In isn't giving you much. Even my Galaxy S3 was only getting me about $50.It's not pocket cash for a device I would "throw out" as someone said. My Moto G, Galaxy S3, and Moto G LTE are all good, solid devices. The smart thing to do would be to sell on Ebay as I have many times before. There is where you can sell and get a good profit for your old device.

The trade in price is higher for Apple products because Motorola wants people to switch to using Motorola obviously, they don't care about anybody feeling down about buying a last gen motoX right before the new one got announced

People who are complaining about the valuation need to be a little more realistic. Motorola is giving you some money for phones you'd otherwise throw away and end up in a landfill. They're not doing this to appreciate and use your phone. It's basically a "discount" for being good to the environment. If you think your phone has good value, then better to sell it to someone who will appreciate and pay better dollar for it.

XATJX, 06 Sep 2014For Samsung Galaxy S5 you can get $300Yes and you would be mad to get the new moto X over the s5. Main reason is that battery is tiny 2300mh in the moto. People are not happy with 5inch nexus 5 having 2300mh battery so Motorola stupidly think that 2,300mh is OK in a 5.2 inch phone. I mean the 4.3 inch moto E has a 2,000 mh battery so why such a small battery in the flagship? The new nexus 6 will probably have a bigger battery than this - although a faster processor and higher res screen though.
