CPU/GPU is one area where Qualcomm has lost very badly to apple in last 1 year and seem to be clueless even now on how to catch up. Samsung seems to have better idea though.

I've used my Z1 and the wife's 5S, and my experience with them showed me that the 5S was slower, despite having less than half the number of pixels to push. The cameras' viewfinders show that very clearly: you have an amazingly quick 60Hz refresh on the Z1 (it's literally the first thing you notice about the camera, how smooth the viewfinder is) compared to a 30Hz refresh on the 5S.
I'm not mentioning the low resolution display, the small screen, the tiny battery etc just because we're focusing on performance.

As a practical example just look at the performance gap between Cortex-A5, Cortex-A7 and Krait cores.
They are all of the same ARMv7 instruction set, yet (at the very same frequency and same core count) the performance gap of CPU bound operations is enormous!

Had you been smart, as you were stupidly (I have observed this behavior) squinting to see mobile versions of websites because you could not browse in full browser mode, you would have switched to my phone which is a Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
My wife uses one, I use one, and I ignore the jealous Apple zealots saying "Its too large".
With the Z Ultra no need for a tablet the Z Ultra is a tablet and a phone.

Cannot wait to see the screen. Apple say the screen is color corrected and features photo-aligned IPS liquid crystal and improved polarizer.
