Lol, when people complain about not using Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, even when Apple's A8 is faster than it. :)

They were well engineered, they`re fast, and they are CHEAP. They are examples of good products at a low price.. Which Samsung or LG device with a 170 USD price tag did better?

Moto could do better? Of course, but not at that price tag / cost, in 2013...

AnonD-282298, 14 Sep 2014Do You really think moto G and Moto X are true examples of ... moreYou build company reputation by making good products.

Motorola made terrible products (Hazr line), they had top end specifications, but were just terrible.

Moto X and Moto G were the best selling smartphones Motorola ever did.. They re-started building their reputation there.

Apple and Samsung did awsome phones, launching the iPhone and Galaxy brands. But if you start making crappy devices, the customers will react. Customers are not all that stupid.. You can buy an iPhone 6 because iPhone 4-5-5s were good, but if you start making bad phones, people start changing brands..

Reputation is built, and lost.. you can`t count that a company will have it forever, and that companies with no reputation won`t built it again.

Nokia was the best selling phone maker in the world 10 years ago.. today it struggles to compete because of it`s businees and product decisions.. If you count only reputation, Nokia had the best one when the smartphone fight started.. it just lost it by doing crappy devices at the time.

They are nothing. No matter what you put in a device it will break sales record. You need company Reputation for the device to sell.Samsung Galaxy has done it.N Series Has done it.Iphone has done it.Were they Best, nope. You need to first build company reputation First.
Moto will never be able to do that, not Even Sony, forget HTC,building Service centre network is must.

Suresh, 14 Sep 2014Delay your release HTC, you are behind the curve, use the f... moreSuresh, I`m a product development engineer myself (not in HTC), and I can tell you.. Delaying a device in 3-4 months IS a big deal for a company.. It`s better for the business to launch a device with Snapdragon 801 late in 2014, and another device with Snapdragon 810 early in 2015 (which would be the next HTC One probably).

And the specs you mentioned - YES it is too hard. When developing a product, you can put whatever you want in there, as long as it meets your launch schedule, your cost target and the good quality you expect in the device.

For a removable SD and batter you need to have a BIGGER device... There`s always tradeoffs, you can`t just spec a removable SD card, a removable battery, having no bezzels, and being 5mm thin, in a 5" screen.. I mean, you can, but again you end up having extra costs to apply the necessary technology, which may not be feasible to reach your target cost.

Would you buy the perfect smartphone, if the market price sell it for U$2000,00?

Moto G and Moto X are proofs that you can make cheaper, more affordable devices with an intermediate hardware. There`s always tradeoffs, cost x benefit.

Delay your release HTC, you are behind the curve, use the following:
                                1. Snapdragon 810 (Early 2015)
                                2. At least 13MP camera.
                                3. USB 3.0
                                4. MicroSD+Removable Battery
                                5. Boomsound speakers
                                6. Minimum Bezels

Its a winner. Is it too hard to create a perfect phone?

Most likely the same old 2GB of RAM, Same old 800/801 Snapdragon and same old lack 4G LTE worldwide Bands.

If they want this smartphone to sell well I would recommend 3GB of RAM,805 Snapdragon, At least 15 LTE Bands for those that travel (clue from Apple)and to use a better camera from Sony for both the front and back of the smartphone. They could also boost the sound volume on those two front stereo speakers. Then it may sell well. The specs from HTC should beat the specs from its rivals not match them after others have already released their high end products with less features. Poor old HTC always looking to pinch the penny and save a penny. No wonder all their new recruits from abroad are always leaving their company and quitting.
