I love the design. Seems practical and saves more money by avoiding the secondary camera module as well as space. My only concern is that this rotating unit must be able to withstand the ample wear and tear and the rotation which will be the lifeline on this thing.

AnonD-307618, 15 Sep 2014My mechanical design is better than both: Oppo N1 and N2 .... moreI give you an "A" for effort but you lost me with "mechanical" and I wouldn't agree with it being better than the N1 or N3's design. The biggest challenge with things being "mechanical" is it usually means more things to go wrong / parts that can break which ultimately questions durability. Your design requires more parts than it needs to achieve the desired result.

Tough to see if it would be a problem, but from a design perspective I'd be concerned about the taller cylinder part casting an annoying shadow on the top notification bar of the screen.

I've always wondered why smartphones bothered putting in 2 cameras when 1 would've done the job, just by making it reversible. I guess it's design groupthink that goes back to the days of the Nokia 7650, which had front and back cams. This is better--one high-pixel cam for selfies as well.

The design thought is great. Just the camera cylinder need to have a smaller radius equal to that of the phones thickness. This is also mechanically more reliable and, saves cost on the second camera and a better secondary camera. In short a meaningful design.
