If roles were reversed and say for example Samsung was on top with its high end specs and performance.
Then Apple would try to challenge them with their "optimized specs". People would laugh at Apple's low end specs and buy Samsung instead.
What I'm trying to say is, majority of people buy Apple products for the name. Not for specs, performance, or software optimization. Since most people don't know that much about smartphones, they simply default to Apple due to its reputation.

iPhones are optimized well but aren't very future proof. No matter how well you can optimize software, you're limited by low specs.
Also, TouchWiz is terrible.

When you buy an apple product you are buying the hardware, iOS, the ecosystem and support, you are paying for the whole experience, and I believe it's worth every cent. ,android phones may be cheaper but the ecosystem is still a mess, your basically just paying for the hardware, android comes for free from Google. Apple srecgnosied this years ago, and designed their products and services to meet this requirement, whilst Samsung, hoc,Sony ,lg etc are just trying to flog off hardware, they have tried but failed tondo what Apple has done. Also a lot of ppl will claim their iPhones back on tax and then sell them a year later for a good price, the overall cost of ownership may be lower than buying a android phone and s they have poor second hand value.
