Hmmm the price is different from what we saw in the site .... it say the price will be reduce .... and most of the carrier get the iphone for free from apple ..... its such a ripe off ..... =(

Overpriced? BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Lexus are also overpriced. Did it stop those who can afford to buy it from purchasing it? No. If you can't afford a BMW base model, go get a fully loaded, top of the line Kia =)

I think the price is justified by its specs. Check out the N97 for example, it's close to this price. Though the N97's specs are far off the iPhone 3G S. The N97 doesn't even have a hardware graphics accelerator, left alone only 128mb of ram and a 400mhz processor. The iPhone 3G S has 256mb ram, 600mhz processor, a hardware graphics accelerator supporting OpenGL ES 2.0, a compass and a much much more wider range of apps, including advanced apps like the Tom-Tom gps navigation software. Also most of HTC's high end Windows Mobile devices with very similar specs, maybe slightly more ram (288mb in the new Touch Pro 2) but no compass are in the same price range, at least in Australia.

iphone 3gS is overprised. But i dont think no touch screen phone will beat it as long as other companies introduce better than apple store.

Beaten in several features including price by rivals, the 3G S certainly doesnt justify its price.

...now what would a phone need to do that?
Obviously this phone will be in high demand and carriers with agreements to sell the iPhone in other countries will not want to compete with unlocked iPhones from Italy, hence the high price.
Sometimes people should think a little bit instead of just whining.

too expensive!it has the price of a notebook and still not the capacities of a notebook.the 3gs 16 gb has the same price as a nokia n97.I thought that this new iphone would be cheaper baut they are making more and more expensive phones, instead of reducing prices.i wont pay that much for a phone that has one only thing interstenig, the interface and very userfriendly.i bet that the new I8000 Omnia will be much cheaper and is the best phone ever, 800 mhz processor, a bigger screen, better camera and many other things.also is a winmobile!

The prices between Europe and the US are almost identical
Unlocked phone with no contract in the US : 16GB is 600USD, 32GB is 700USD
It amazing how good Apple propaganda machine is if people still think the iPhone is cheap....
In the US the full price of the iphone contract is 3500USD (sum of all) in comparison the Pre contract is only 2400USD, that is a whooping 1100USD difference.
