CPU is not *HOT SWAPPABLE* (Phone on)
You can still cold swap when the phone is off.
    Geez.

I think when they say "Processor and screen are not hot swappable", they mean it cant be swapped whilst it is switched on. That's what hot swappable means. Doesn't mean it can't be swapped whilst it is off.

i agree, if you cannot change processor, its useless project! i don't understand how they cannot see that???
same thing is happening for years in telephone industry. they ALWAYS put some sh..ty part in very nice configuration and then they destroy all....and then they are wondering why the stocks went down? bad decisions and bad management, that's why!

The only two parts that will not be hot-swappable are the phone's processor and display.

            Than worth nothing...

AdamBoy64, 01 Oct 2014Is it common to be in a hurry to change processors in your phone?Well, I mean if one processor has been working all day long and is getting tired and slow when you're watching another youtube hd video on your way back home from work, it's only normal that you swap it to another processor which has been resting in your pocket and hungry to work.

it's funny how there are always "this" certain type of people who often have the need to disapprove innovation, oh well i guess we sure are different after all.

Why not stop complaining and just appreciate something new?

It really doesn't matter if it won't last or if people won't be keeping their "skeleton phone" for more than 2/3 years, what matters is that they will keep it.

google is succeeding at giving people a chance or rather a choice, what next is totally up to them.

Besides it is a lie that we don't have "skeleton" laptops and or desktop computers...

Have you guys been living under a rock this past century?
The project is based all around a motherboard that is basically what desktops nowadays have...

Have you guys ever heard of the term "barebones"?

Every time you upgrade your laptop's SSD or your desktop's RAM, SSD, CPU, GPU, FAN and or sometimes MOTHERBOARD, you are essentially performing the same actions as you will be, on this smartphone.

SO YES, we have been doing this for years, without any limitation. have you ever wonder why there are more people buying windows based computers than apple one"s...

I dont know how many year you want to keep that old ARA skeleton.

People keep saying that's the future.

I am telling you keeping the same old chassis will not take you that far.or give you the freedom you imagine it would.

Adiyel, 01 Oct 2014This is exactly what iOS users say about Android OS...that ... moreHave a clue on why it's counter productive to keep a basic skeleton year past year and also want to keep up.

Also have a clue why there is no modular laptop or tablet.

People change phone not because they like wasting and throw away money.

It's because tech standards advance too fast.to have adapt new features the entire phone NEEDS to update.

2 years down the road you will look to update a feature for your modular phone and discover that your 2 year old chassis is not giving you the performance benefit and that you still have to buy a new phone.

P., 30 Sep 2014You can't hotswap central procesor unit? It is useless. Why... moreIs it common to be in a hurry to change processors in your phone?

This is exactly what iOS users say about Android OS...that it's too fragmented and will not work.

And yet, as time progressed, android became as fluid and effective as iOS while retaining the customization and modularity.

Please stop trying to stop progress for the sake of repressive corporations.

                                For example .

You buy the any module, you know it won't perform as good as a phone with it it build in.

You end up buying a complete phone because you want that level of improvement.

That low cost skeleton will forever handicaps any upgrade part.

Have a bit of common sense.

They want the main skeleton to be dirt cheap.and all the part will be connected EXTERNALLY.

does that sounds like a high performing and efficient device to you???????

GOOGLE already control the entire (android)software eco system which in term control many aspect of how and what kind of device manufacture makes and sells.

Do you really think company have any incentive to support a modular system by google and loses even more control?

For people who think they can have any part they want and use it to build something better than manufactures can...

                                        Wake up.....

Can't you see the form factor and extreme integration that's required to have the smooth and versatile phone we demand.

Modular phone will have more limitation and compromise simply because it break up everything into pieces.

Btw normal phone are customizable, in a reasonable way.no one really needs a completely modular phone if they see the limitation and compromises.

Like I mention before think about why we don't have modular laptop or tablet.
