Android (specially after v 4.0) tries to keep open as many as most (or recent) used apps, while they are still in ram, but no CPU or battery is used. So, you can switch between them without re-running the apps (which needs CPU), this is called true multi-tasking which iOS and some others lack. Only when Android needs more ram for another app, it clears the earliest opened app from ram.
Now, pleas double think about it. Google knows more than us about Android and it will keep rocking as always.

bedspringlex, 10 Oct 2014Oh the 560 is DPI while the pixel 496 is PPI.DPI and PPI should be exactly the same. PPI is used for displays and DPI for prints. 560 suggests 5.2" display, as already mentioned.

A 560dpi is a 5.2 inch screen display... thats cool and incredible resolution with QHD.

I curremtly have a 64GB SD card in my phone, which has about 7GB free and 128GB cards have been released at the end of last year. I know what! I'll try and sell you a phone with less than 30 GB that you can only access with a data cable from a PC and that will get wiped every time you have to reset the phone. I can't possibly imagine why I woulnd't want to buy this otherwise excellent phone.

Fantastic and very exciting- only danger for many if its 5.9 its just getting too big. If .. if its 5.2 or even less.. = definite winner for more of a majority I think

Most likely to keep costs down we have seen this in previous nexus devices some things have to be sacraficed and just maybe 64bit isn't ready for primetime and google wants to put out a flawless phones for devs to build apps from that's my opinion
