Its about time. Hopefully many more moves like these would be made soon to reduce the pollution by a considerable margin before mother earth kicks us back to the stone age.

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2009Why in europe only? They should release this one worldwide..I agree it should be a world wide standard.... except if apple comes out with something better... then that must be made the standard

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2009"So when did V8 come out before N85? Why 5800 only support ... moreI did thought Moto came out with micro-USB charging before everybody else with its V8/U9.
I also wonder why the almighty brand, with at least 4 times the sales of Moto, and possibly at least 4x the R&D resources, still can't figure out how to charge a phone via USB..."18+ months" after Moto released its U9/V8

it is wonderful news ...and i think companies should packs common accessories separately exclusively so that it should be on customer`s decision to buy them with phone or leave them if he already have such accessories .this will reduce cost burden and also wast control etc

I welcome this decision. Really great. This will help greatly especially on travel (less cables need to carry). Also on emergency, any charger can help you. Thank you EU.
Nokias Micro USB is looking different now. (mobile E71). Hope new models will be changed.
[Apple's decision also really surprising. :) ]

Sid, 30 Jun 2009What nonsense! MicroUSB is the worst charging socket ever p... morethey're just using the miniUSB as a BACKUP charger, not as the standard charger.
of course the charging speed really sucks with the miniusb and no one can argue with that. but it's good to know that you do have a spare charger when in a pinch.
